74. 🔞 Open wide

"Jungkook?"

My voice sounded hoarse and sleepy.

His big doe eyes fluttered.

Looking down at me, he seemed like a bird observing a shiny object.

I didn't even have the time to remember where I was. What time it was. What we were both doing here. What was the current state of our relationship now.

We were only in the present moment.

There was no past or future. There was only him and I. Now.

His hand caressed my cheek. My eyes couldn't detach from his.

"You have a new haircut," he said in a low voice, his fingers brushing a strand of hair behind my ear.

I sniffed, rubbing my cheek against the pillow.

His hand on my skin felt like a burn.

A good one.

"It's a breakup thing. I've heard," I whispered back, surprised by my own comeback.

In the dark, I saw his head tilt to the side.

He smiled.

"And what about that?"

His thumb slowly traced a line below my lower lip.

He stared at my mouth. My lips parted open for him.

"You usually never wear lipstick..." he added in a deep, low voice, his thumb pressing on my lower lip now.

"It's a breakup thing too," I whispered, my warm breath falling on his fingers. "It's called glow up."

The "up" made my lips come together. They gave a subtle kiss on Jungkook's thumb.

He took in a short breath. His dark eyes looked down at my figure lying down in his bed.

I blinked, feeling the last bits of sleep leaving my body.

I was fully awake now.

Fully aware that we had not met in a month.

Since that cold night of October, when everything went wrong.

Jungkook took another deep, long breath. I closed my eyes for a second and opened them again.

We both felt it.

The heavy atmosphere.

His thumb pressed on my mouth and smudged the red lipstick away.

I felt warmth spread all over my chest.

He smudged it to my cheek, down to my jaw.

My lips parted. His stare followed the dark color on my skin.
