Chapter Seven
After brunch and learning about training, Aaron and I went and walked around this mansion. I can't tell if I like Aaron or not. He seems a bit full of himself and arrogant. I don't know. He seems like the type of person to really get on your nerves. We haven't really talked since we first met and it’s a little awkward.
"So. How do you plan to catch him?" Aaron asks me. He is so mellow about this whole situation and really wants to get down to business. This annoys me. How can he adjust to this so quickly? Doesn't he miss his old life? And wasn't his sister just murdered? Shouldn't he be mourning her death instead of trying to kill Kratos? I suppose to him, killing Kratos may be a form of revenge toward his sister's death. I guess that me going along with this whole situation also is because I seek revenge from this man who killed my birth parents. That horrible man that I am unfortunately related to.
"I don't really know. I'm still trying to try to make myself believe that this is actually happening. How long have you known about this whole thing?" I question him. I have been wondering about this since my father first told me about the Hale family recently joining the society.
"For about a year and a half. My parents joined the Neverada Society. They wanted to create a better community and future for the people. And then they got stuck in this mess. It all happened about a month after my parents joined the society. My parents and your father had just finished the latest project to create more solar panels for the city. We realized we were being followed. At first, it seemed like a coincidence. And then it just got worse and worse. Cars would follow us. It was always the same license plates. Strange men dressed in black would follow me and my sister on the train to school. My father informed your father about the stalking and then your father told us about everything. The killings, Kratos. Then, last week, my sister Ema was killed by none other than Kratos. It is you and your family's fault that we are in this situation. But then again, my father knew about the risk." Aaron lets out a sigh. He starts to speak again. "I suppose that there is nothing that we can do now other than to try to save you and stop Kratos" he finishes and looks down at his hands. I can tell that he is waiting for my response. I can tell that he knows that it was wrong of him to say that it is all my fault, but he should have thought about that before he said anything.
"How dare you say anything about my family! You're right! You're father and mother knew about the risk that they were putting themselves into! Never mention it again!"
I don't know what came into me. I know that he is sorry. I really didn't mean it, but what he said hurt. I look up to him and can see that he is now angry as well, his grey eyes turning dark while staring at me.
"I said I was sorry. Do not talk to me like that."
And that was it. I guess it's my fault, for exploding at him like that, but he shouldn't have said that about my family. I now decided that he was one that would be hard to get along with.
