Chapter 44
“Thanks!” I say as the lady leaves the hotel room from delivering Aaron’s food. I close the door behind her and lock it, just to be safe. I turn back and look to find only Aaron devouring his just delivered food. I smile and go to get my bag. I’m about to go and buy some clothes for Aaron and I. Wearing the same clothes over and over again makes it easier for us to spot. I’m about to walk out the door when Aaron starts to say something.
“Um…Lia?” He says hesitantly.
I spin around and face him.
“Yeah?” I reply.
“Well…I was wondering if um…” Aaron puts his hand behind his head and scratches it like he is really nervous and is trying to delay what he has to say for as long as he can.
“Ummmmm, what? I say anxious for him to say what he wants to say. It can’t be that bad, right? Maybe he wants me to buy him something, like I don’t know, underwear? Or maybe he is going to tell me that I look like a mess. Or maybe he going to ask me to bring him back some food.
“Well…I was wondering if you want to go outtonightfordinnerandthenwatchamovie.” He says so fast it takes me a few seconds to actually realize what he is saying.
“You mean, you mean like a date?” I ask, hoping the answer is a yes.
“Yea…” He says really softly. He tilts his head down, like he is disappointed.
“Yes! Bye!” I say quickly and leave before there can be any awkward silence or changing of his mind. As I close the door behind me, I see his head shoot up and his eyes light up. Once the door is closed, I grin so widely it must look scary. I continue this crazy smiling all the way to the main shopping street here.
