Chapter Fourteen

Lia's Point of View

‘Aaron and I eat breakfast. We chit chat, learning about each other’s past. Once we are done, we walk out of the cafe.

"Let's go sightseeing," I tell Aaron

"What?"

"Sight. Seeing" I say once more.

"We are being chased down by a psychopath killer and you want to go sightseeing?" Aaron says, baffled by request.

"Um. Yeah." I say.

"Why?!" He says, unable to comprehend why on earth I wanted to go sightseeing.

"We are in Paris. We might as well go to the Eiffel Tower. And then maybe go shopping or something." I say to Aaron.

"I think I'll pass..." He says.

"Suit yourself." I walk past him, and call a taxi. Right before I get into the taxi, I hear Aaron's voice call my name. I look back at him and he begins talking.

"Don't be late! And avoid any trouble!" He tells me.

"Yes! I know! See you later!" I reply back and get into the taxi.

Threw the taxi window, see Aaron walking toward the hotel.

"Eiffel Tower please." I tell the taxi driver. He nods and begins to drive.

I soon reach the Eiffel Tower. I pay the taxi driver for the ride.

"Merci!" I tell him and get out of the taxi. He drives away and I walk toward the tower. It's beautiful. I put my hand in my pocket in search for my phone so that I can take some pictures. I pull my hand out of my pocket and frown. I suddenly remember that my phone was gone. Crushed ad destroyed back in the airport. I sigh and continue to walk around. I feel someone tap my shoulder. I spin around and see a handsome boy that looks a few years older than me. He has dark brown hair and light blue eyes.

"Hi!" I say, smiling.

"Hi!" he replies. I can hear a slight French accent.

"Would you like me to take a picture of you and the Eiffel Tower?" He questions me. I can see him holding one of those cameras that takes a picture and instantly prints it out. I nod and he directs me to stand in front of the tower.

"Smile!" He says and I follow his order.

"Perfect!" He says, running back up to me. He shows me the picture. I thank him for the picture.

"So what are you doing here in France? It's a beautiful city, isn't it?" He asks me.

"Just visiting." I say, trying to drop the subject.

"That's nice. What's your name?"

"I'm Lia. And yours?"

"Colton. It's nice to meet you, Lia." He says

"Well, I better go, Colton." I wave and begin to walk back toward the taxis.

"Lia! Wait! Would you like to share a taxi? I'm heading to the touristic part of town, which I presume that you are staying in." He says, still smiling.

"Um... Sure. Why not?"

He gets a taxi and we jump in.

"Where are you going Lia?"

"The Bon Bon Hotel please."

We small talk. He has an amazing sense of humor. Once it's my stop, I say good bye to Aaron. He gives me his number and I thank him. I offer to pay for the cab ride, but he won't allow me. I smile and wave as they drive away.

I enter the hotel, still smiling, and go up to the top floor.

I greet Aaron as I walk in.

"Hey."

"Did you have fun?"

"Yup."

I leave Aaron alone where he was, sitting on the crème chair watching TV.

I walk to where my belongings are. I grab my bag and set it on my bed. Without Aaron seeing, I put the picture Colton took of me at the Eiffel Tower and his phone number in my bag. If Aaron finds out that I talked to a stranger, he'll be furious and not trust me again. Now I'm keeping two secrets from him, the phone call with Lisa and me meeting Colton. But it's okay. Not knowing those two things will hurt him. It's not like Lisa or Colton would ever hurt me.
