Chapter Twenty-One
Two days have passed by since we have been in Germany. This time, Aaron refuses to let me go anywhere alone. Who does he think he is, my father? But I can't blame him; I too don't want what happened in France to happen again in Germany. This time, Aaron and I have decides to not go sightseeing again. Instead, we visit places that don't have many people. It is not that bad. It actually it better. I've gotten to know Aaron a little more and he isn't that bad of a person. I'm still trying to get use to his new appearance, though. At this moment, Aaron and I are walking down the streets of Germany. We are just coming back from dinner, which was a small restaurant where they made hamburgers and other simple food. Our small talk conversation has changed into an awkward silence. Aaron seems to not like the silence because he starts to speak.
"So... What is the one thing that you can't stand?" He asks me.
"The one thing I can't stand... Memories. They are the worst."
"You don't like memories? What kind of person doesn't like memories?"
"When you think about good memories, all you want to do is relive them, which you can't. Bad memories are always replaying in your brain and all you want is to get rid of them, but you can't. Why cry about the same thing twice? Memories really bring you down."
"Wow. I guess if you look at it that way, it's reasonable not to really like memories." Aaron concludes after listening to my statement.
"And what about you? What do you despise the most?"
"Oh that's easy. You." He points at me. I give him a disapproving look and he starts laughing. His laughter suddenly ends and Aaron stops in his tracks.
"What is it?" I ask, puzzled.
"That-that car. It had the same license plate as the one that I saw following my family, before my sister's death. Let’s just keep walking." He picks up his walking pace.
Afraid to look behind myself, I walk at Aarons fast pace.
Suddenly, Aaron makes a sharp turn. I follow his lead. I hear a load skitter of a car behind us. Aaron gives me a frightened look. I return the same look back to him.
