Chapter Thirty-Six

Aaron stops the ship and gets up from the seat. We both are still dripping with water from our earlier swim. The ship is at the shore. Aaron sailed the ship toward the end of the shore which did not seem very populated. Together, Aaron and I walk off the ship. We walk on the sand as we approach some small shacks and restaurants. A man walks past us and gives us a small smile. If only he knew what we just did. If he knew, he wouldn’t be smiling. He would be running to the police, yelling at us, giving us a disgusted look. Look what Kratos has done to my and to Aaron’s life.

But.

I don’t show any of these thoughts. I simply smile back at the man and Aaron does the very same.  We walk in the opposite direction of the man. Soon, he would approach the ship. Soon, he would realize there is a man tied up to the railings. Soon, the man would wake once again and explain what happened. Soon, Aaron and I would be in trouble. Soon.

We walk past a shack that seems to sell souvenirs. I enter the shop. Aaron, confused, follows.   I pretend to look for something and see a t-shirt. It says “Trinidad and Tobago”. Perfect. We actually know where we are now.        I thank the store worker and exit the shop.

“So. I guess we are in Trinidad.” Aaron says.

“Yup. Let’s go find somewhere to stay.”

Aaron nods and we begin to walk in search of a resort.

“Hey, you know, we never found out where that plane was going.” I tell Aaron.

“I bet you it would’ve been somewhere we wouldn’t have liked.”

I laugh at his reply and continue to walk by his side.
