Chapter Thirty-Nine

“Why are we walking to a drug store again, Lia?” Aaron questions me.

“We need disguises. I think we should look much older than we really are. We can achieve that by lot of makeup and hair products.” I reply.

“Makeup?! Aaron yelps.

“Don’t forget the hair products!” I answer him.

“Makeup…and hair products… Lord please help me.” He mumbles under his breath and I chuckle.

I walk down the first makeup aisle. Back when I had a normal life, I used to watch Halloween costume make up tutorials, so I know just what it need to make us look 60 years older than we actually are. The first thing I grab is some type of latex thing that you can use to shape to your face. I then take some red lipstick, eyeliner, a gray hair extension, foundation, and powder. Aaron follows me with an unpleased look on his face. He doesn’t seem to like the idea of wearing makeup. Then I grab some hair gel and hair spray, along with a bag. I stuff al the products in the bag and swing the bag over my shoulder. I decide to quickly run back to the makeup aisle and grab a whole load more of the products…Just in case. I can see the color from Aaron’s face slowly fade away, frightened about the artwork I will soon create on his face. Once I finish stuffing half the aisle in the stolen bag, I wait for a group of people to leave the store. I walk out the door with them. The sensors begin to beep. Aaron and I get away quickly before the employees can search us for any unpaid for items. I hear a distant “Hey, you two! Wait! Come back!” But we are already around the block and away from the store.

“Well, I suppose we just got practice for robbing the bank.” Aaron chuckles.

“You can say that.” I reply.

Aaron and I keep walking for a little while. We come across a busy street full of small restaurants and shops. Aaron and I enter something that seems to be a fast food place. With the stolen and stuffed bag in hand, I grab Aaron’s wrist and drag him toward the bathroom. I glance into the small and cracked rectangular mirror. Our cloths are a bit worn out and ripped, but it is not too bad. Through the mirror, I look back at Aaron. His eyes and his smile…What is wrong with me. I need to get back to focusing on robbing this bank. I can dream about him later.

“C’mon, sit on the toilet.” I tell him. He squeezes past me. This bathroom is very small and cramped.

“I am ready for the torture.” Aaron says confidently.

“Oh my, what a brave soul you are, Aaron.” I say sarcastically.

I look at him and he doesn’t seem too sure about my makeup artist skills.

“I’m a girl, I’m good with this kind of stuff. Remember when you first met me? The day you kidnapped me? You saw how my makeup looked.”

“Exactly. I saw how it looked. That’s why I’m scared.”

“Hmph!”

Not wanting to defend myself and my makeup skills (which let me tell you, no matter what Aaron says, are pretty good), I open the bag and search around for some products. I pull out a black eyeliner.

“Scrunch up your face.” I instruct Aaron.

He does as he is told and wrinkles are formed. Using the black eyeliner pencil, I lightly go over the wrinkles. After that, I rub some cream I threw in the bag over his face. I blend the cream and eyeliner together. Finally, I put some powder on his face. I quickly use hair spray to stick his hair closer to his head.

“Ta da! All done.” I say to Aaron. He gets up and rushes to the mirror. He inspects his face closely.

“Not bad, not bad” Aaron comments.

I smile and him and say, “Wait until you see what I’m going to do to myself.

I begin with the same steps that I did to Aaron. Once I have finished that, I fish through the bag for the latex thing I had found. I open it and place a little bit of it on my nose. Slowly, slowly, I begin to shape a large and drooping nose on top of my actual nose. Next, I take the hair extension and clip it in my hair, I blend it in with my actual hair and tie a low ponytail. To finish it all off, I put on a dark shade of red lipstick.

“There, I’m done.” I say out loud. Aaron looks at me and smirks. I take the bag and we exit the bathroom together and find someone waiting outside.

“It’s about time you got out!” The woman says angrily. “And you two were both in there? What were you doing?! Ugh, I don’t have time for this…Grandparents…” The lady mumbles the last word as she hastily enters the bathroom.

Aaron smirks at the woman’s displeasure.

“Well honey, I think it is time to go and see the grandchildren.” He says with a wink.

Oh my god. He called me honey. Oh my god. He winked at me.
