Chapter Nineteen

Aaron went out earlier and just came back. He returned with a big shopping bag full of beauty products. He got tons of different hair dyes, foundation, and some color contacts. I told him that it would be much easier if I just went with him to the store I could choose what I want there. But no. He said that if Kratos was at on the lookout for us, he would immediately recognize us both if we were together. So here we are now, with half of the store in front if us.

"Which color hair dye?" Aaron questions me.

"Uh. Pink." I say, even though there isn't any pink hair due in front of me. Plus, I don't think I'm a big fan of pink hair dye anyways.

"Come on, Lia. Really. No fooling around. Choose from one of these colors." Aaron tells me, pointing at all the different dyes.

My hair is a light brown, dirty blond mix and my eyes are a light, milk chocolate color. I've always had an obsession with ebony hair and blue eyes, so I decide to go with the dark, dark brown, almost black, hair dye. I point my finger at the dye and Aaron hands it to me. I give him a puzzled look.

"I have no idea how to use this." I tell him truthfully.

"There are instruction on the back aren't there?"

"Yes."

"Well then have fun."

I sigh and head to the bathroom and begin experimenting with my hair.

About an hour later, after mixing chemicals together, taking a shower, and making the bathroom extremely dirty, I finally finish dying my hair. I look in the mirror and almost can't recognize myself. I walk out of the bathroom and see Aaron emerging from the other bathroom. He has died his light brown hair into a medium dark brown. His grey eyes have disappeared and now are a light brown. He smiles and walks toward me.

"I hope that you didn't make to much of a mess in that bathroom." Aaron says, smirking.

"No, I only ruined the walls, bathtub, sink, and a little bit of the mirror with the hair die." I say sarcastically.

"Well I almost poked my eyes out trying to put the contacts in my eyes." Aaron says while handing me a pair of blue contacts. I take the contacts an go to the bathroom and put them on rather quickly.  I walk back to Aaron.

"How did you put them in so quickly?!" Aaron says, surprised. I laugh at his reaction and sit next to him on the white leather couch. Aaron hands me the foundation that he purchased earlier.

"Use this to cover any birthmarks that you have." Aaron instructs me.

"The only birthmark that I have is in my eye." I reply, handing him back the foundation.

"In your eye? That's not possible." He replies, not believing my earlier statement.

"Yes it is. Look." I say. I quickly take of the blue contact and point to my right eye to show Aaron the birthmark in my brown eye pupil. Once he sees it, he looks at me with shock.

"Wow." Is all he says.

"The only bad part is that it proves that I am related to Kratos. He has one, too."

"Oh." Aaron says, not knowing how else to reply.

"Yeah..."

"Well then it's a good think that you are wearing those contacts since they hide the fact that you have that birthmark that shows you are related to Kratos."Aaron speaks to break the awkward silence.

"I suppose. You can no longer recognize us."

"That was the goal, wasn't it?"

I nod and let out a sigh.

"Kratos is... Changing our lives."

"Maybe it's for the better?" Aaron suggests.

I shrug as a response. Perhaps it is. But I honestly don't see how losing our loved ones is for the better.
