A long overdue update two chapters and epilogue remains of book 1!
A few days have passed since Cypress came into this world. He was oh so loved by everyone who came to wish us a congratulations. I was banned from physically being able to fight as I was still healing from bringing my son into the world. I was relieved to hear from Marie and my mom that he would grow at a normal rate a pup should grow. I glanced over to where Cypress was asleep in a crib brought into the room Xavier and I were assigned in the pack house. I smiled as I drank my pumpkin pie shake that was made by Lily. It was nice to have been able to chat with my best friend for a while given what we were about to face. I let a low growl as I thought about these hunters attacking and killing good people. I was frustrated that my warrior's skills wouldn't be utilized at this battle. A small cry from the crib had my attention and I got up carefully and picked up Cypress who gazed at me with sleepy eyes and quieted down.
"It's alright little one I'm here," I said gently. Aspen was in seventh heaven about our pup and absolutely adored him as did Xavier and Zeus. Cypress cooed and settled back down and fell back asleep as Xavier came into the room. He looked exhausted and older his hair disheveled and a five a clock shadow graced his face. His eyes lit up when he saw me holding our son.
"He just fell back asleep I think my growl woke him up thinking about these hunters," I admitted to Xavier a look of concern graced his face.
"They will be dealt with accordingly it just may take longer to eradicate them if what your mom says is true," he said as I passed Cypress to him.
"I know we need to find the gems to go onto the knife that I have only ever seen once and that was the night I was banished," I said softly closing my eyes and remembering the silver dagger adorned with four precious gems that were infused with elemental power.
"We will find them principessa, relax for now if you can tomorrow the harvest festival begins and I know how much you are looking forward to that," he said leaning down to kiss me softly on the cheek as he handed Cypress back over to me. "I need to shower and change then we can head to dinner and maybe sleepyhead will be hungry for his meal too," he teased as he headed to the bathroom. I laughed at what my mate had said knowing Cypress wakes up screaming to be fed multiple times through the night. I set him back down in the crib so I could change into leggings and a clean shirt. Xavier came out about five minutes later freshly shaven face and he looked refreshed from the days preparation's and setting up of the many booths.
"Feel better after your shower?" I asked him.
"Yes, much I didn't realize how much work went into the festival held here until Luna Isabella assigned everyone tasks including the young pups," he said with a look of surprise and admiration. I reach up to hold his face gently between my hands and smile as he wraps his arms around me.
"That's what I loved about being apart of this pack Xavier was everyone is included during the harvest festival even the humans and witches nearby come to help out," I said gently as he relaxed into my touch taking a deep breath.
"Just different from my experience as Alpha but I do wish this year's festival was under different circumstances," his eyes hardening into that of a warrior and protector. I move my hands down to his chest and nuzzle into him as he takes a moment to inhale my scent. I knock at the door sounded and Xavier went to the door to let Adara in.
"You two coming to dinner or not," she teased us.
"We are coming now," I said as I grabbed my wrap and put Cypress to my chest to secure him in it with Adara's help as I still wasn't sure how to wrap it by myself. Xavier watched us with a proud look on his face as we headed to the dining hall for dinner. This wasn't just an ordinary dinner though it was a pre battle dinner. Speeches would be made from all the Alphas present and I would also be speaking as representative of the elemental wolves. I couldn't physically fight alongside the other warriors but I still had my part in all this we all did. It was a short walk to the dining hall that was fully decorated for fall now. I smiled at all the variety of pumpkins that were set up but what warmed my heart was all the pack members gathered in here and outside as well. Alpha Kade had brought in equipment so that those eating outside would be able to hear and watch the speeches. He even had a television channel reserved for those pack members who couldn't join us but based on how packed it was inside and from what I could see from the live feed near the barracks all the pack members were gathered.
