Chapter 3 Part 2: Handsome Strangers

Xavier's POV

As my brother and Beta, Matteo drove us into Moonstone Mountains and into Silver Moon pack territory. I was able to take in the scenery as we drove into the town square where we could stop and get coffee. The once green trees and lush mountains was starting to transition to the fall colors. I knew what I was here to accomplish and wasn't thrilled that the most feared pack needed another's help. If Natalia was correct there was going to be a war soon and we need to have help to track down an elemental wolf.

If they even exist in the first place, stated my wolf Zeus.

They exist I trust my own grandmother when she has a vision in regards to a prophecy thought to be a myth, I snapped back.

As we came off the winding road and into the town square, I took in the many shops and my eyes settled on the sign Wolfsbane Café .

"Interesting name for a coffee shop isn't it?" I asked Matteo.

"It is why did they let the humans operate and name a business is beyond me," he stated as he took in the people entering and exiting.

"Those humans are under the protection of the pack and the pack is doing very well financially," I replied back knowing that they haven't always had it easy but there warriors were some of the best.

"Well I could use some coffee after being on a plane for four hours and two more in the car I need a break," said my best warrior and friend Lorenzo as he yawned from the backseat of the truck. I laughed at him he was never a morning person.

" I need to stretch my legs out and could use a strong cup of coffee myself," I thought about why I was here and brushed it off for now.

"Fine we can stop," said Matteo as he pulled into the cafes parking lot and parked the truck. As I stepped out and took in the summer morning heat and realized wearing tight jeans was probably not the wisest decision as the humidity caused them to stick. I waited for Lorenzo and Matteo to get out and watched as an exhausted mom carried her young pup into the café .

We will find our mate soon X, stated my wolf.

We've waited so long for our mate to appear and I know the pack wants a Luna, I replied back.

"I hope they have some wolves running this café  as well," grumbled Matteo and I chuckled

"Brother get used it," I said as I watched Lorenzo practically run up to the door.

As we entered the café , the smells of fresh espresso and coffee brewing, the chatter of the other patrons, and something else. I smelled the intoxicating scent of cinnamon, and pumpkin.

Oh, mate is here! Exclaimed Zeus.

I know but, where is she? Scenting the air as I searched.

 As I looked around and saw the Alphas son working behind the bar with another girl, a human, and another young woman that took off towards the back of the café . As we stood behind the mom waiting to order a beautiful woman with her hair braided, killer curves and a beautiful smile. I noticed that the scent was coming from her. As she walked from where the other she wolf disappeared to. I looked at her curiously as our eyes met, and felt my heart pounding.

Why doesn't she sense our mate bond, whimpered my wolf.

I'm not sure Zeus but for now we will court her and treat her with respect, I replied back.

She will be our Luna and our mate one way or the other, my wolf hummed in agreement.

Just as I turned my attention back to this beautiful woman taking the orders before it was our turn. I felt someone trying to mind link me and I opened it.

Her name is Aurora, Alpha Xavier and welcome to Silver Moon Pack, said Jake.

I continued to stare at my mate as she was conversing with the pack member and her pup. She was smiling at him and she looked absolutely gorgeous. I let my thoughts wander to why she couldn't sense the mate bond. There was one reason I could think of but it was only a legend or wasn't it?

It's possible Xavier that she has the bloodline for elemental power, stated my wolf.

If that's the case then this meeting with Alpha Kade just grew even more urgent, I replied back.

As I tuned my wolf out, I was able to observe my brother in full on flirty mode with my mate. I could feel Zeus wanting to let out a warning growl. I heard a growl that would have made any wolf back away and be on guard. I immediately realized it came from Aurora and felt proud that she stood up to my brother over what I hadn't paid close enough attention to what was said.

Do you want me to intervene or do you think this can be settled before someone loses control? Asked Jake as he glanced over at the scene she caused.

No I think were good, Matteo needs to learn that some packs work closely with humans, and I'm impressed by her boldness, I remarked, as the link closed.

Xavier can you believe this wolf just growled at me, exclaimed Matteo.

That wolf is my mate so be respectful to her and learn your manners, I snarled back.

Seriously!? she is your mate, asked a bewildered Matteo.

Yes, she doesn't realize the mate bond yet will explain later, use the restroom if you need to, I will get our coffee when it's ready, I calmly replied back.

"My apologies Alpha Xavier, your drinks are on the house and I added some of our best-selling muffins for you to enjoy," he replied as he handed me the bag with muffins that smelled delicious. "Aurora will meet you down at the pickup window with your coffee's."

"Thank you," as I walked down to the other side. I couldn't keep my eyes of Aurora as she put stickers on two of the cups before turning to hand them to me.

"These two have room for cream," as she explained the stickers making it easier to decipher which cup was mine. I preferred a nice dark roast coffee with no cream or sugar. As I went to grab the carrier my hands briefly made contacts with hers and I could feel a spark between us. I realized she felt that and my wolf hummed with content.

"Thank you, Aurora for the coffee and don't worry about my brother he will get over it," as  I watched as her cheeks became a rosy pink, "He tends to say things before he thinks, and rare for a woman to not submit to his flirty ways." I smiled at her before handing the carrier to Matteo who prepared the two cups with cream and handed the black one to me. "I hope I will be able to see you again piccolo," as I gave her my most charming and sincere smile.

"Have a good day Alpha Xavier," she smiled politely at him and nodded my head before turning to head out to the lifted ford truck we rented.

I will little try little mate as we got back into the truck, Matteo and Lorenzo both looked expectantly at me.

"What?" I snapped at them and they flinched.

"At least you found your mate, now we can head to the packhouse to rest up, Alpha Kade texted us that are rooms are ready so we can unwind," asked Lorenzo while Matteo started driving us out of the town square to the packhouse.

"That's fine we need to be well rested and on guard tonight, if one of those bastard hunters followed us here," I said as the fatigue of traveling started to kick in. I just hope tonight's meeting with Alpha Kade goes without any hitches. As Matteo drove us out of the town up into the other side of the mountain; to the packhouse. I realized I would need to notify Natalia about finding my mate and check in with my pack before I could rest up. For now I enjoyed the relative peaceful drive and wildflowers growing along the mountain's side. With one thought rolling around in my mind protect Aurora at all costs.
