Chapter 10 The Mysterious Journal

Once my mom and I got back home I grabbed the journal and letter and headed into the family room. I examined the journal the leather was soft to the touch, as I opened it up to the first page and realized this was older than I thought it was. I did notice that towards the middle the handwriting changed from the elegant script to a cursive one. I quickly settled onto the couch and opened the journal and begin to read. The first few pages contained information on the prophecy and leads on potential elementals dating back to before I was born. I noticed several family trees including mine and Heath's. I felt Aspens curiosity before her shock and mine registered as we read the name next to my dad's.

Well looks like my mothers' name was Autumn, I stated to Aspen.

Yes, that is an interesting discovery Ari, she said amused.

Makes me wonder what else Xavier and his pack know, I said curiously.

I want to know who this journal originally belonged too, said Aspen.

I want to know that too but unfortunately we may never know, I said.

I read for about an hour before coming across a rough sketch of a knife with gems embedded into it. Realization struck me as this was the same knife that was in the room with my brother six years ago. My mom walked into the room with one of the pack elders Athena. I sat up straighter and took a deep breath to calm my racing heart.

"What is troubling you Aurora?" asked a concerned Athena her blue eyes taking in my appearance.

"This knife that is described here and mentioned in the prophecy I've seen it before six years ago," I stammered trying to get myself calmed down.

"You mean the incident with your brother Heath?" Asked my mom as she came to sit beside me.

"Yes, and I believe Blood Moon pack is in possession of it," I said suddenly feeling calm and determined.

"Interesting we will need to meet with Alpha Xavier to discuss this latest development further," Athena said thoughtfully.

"But for now calm yourself and your wolf so we can run through some basic exercises to test your powers," said my mom as she gave me a quick hug before motioning me to follow.

I set the journal down as eager as I was to continue reading I knew this practice was important especially if it involves Athena. I set my phone down on top of the other items as I didn't want to be distracted if it went off. I went outside and joined my mom and Athena who set a wilted bunch of wildflowers down on the grass in the yard.

Ari, I can feel your nervousness set it aside so we can focus on our magic, Aspen said clearly annoyed that I was allowing my anxiety to get the better of me.

This would be so much better if our mate was with us, I said.

I know I miss our mate too but I'm here and together we can do this, she said.

"I want to see how your powers have progressed now that they are fully awakened," stated Athena as she took her place next to my mom.

"Focus your energy on the wilted flowers in front of you, sense the life force within them, and bring them back from their wilted form," my mom said her voice soothing and calm. I closed my eyes as Aspen and I focused on that warmth inside us as we pushed it out towards the flowers sensing the life force within them and pictured them coming back to full bloom.

"Very good Aurora, you are doing well with controlling your powers," said my mom in awe. I focused more on the flowers and pictured two beautiful flower crowns. I felt my power rearrange the flowers into perfect flower crowns before I opened my eyes to see my progress. I saw two perfect flower crowns sitting next to the bouquet as well as the grass being about six inches higher.

Well at least we did what she asked, said an amused Aspen.

Yup and now poor Flynn as to mow the grass again, laughing out loud.

"So I need a bit more control on my power I can see," as I looked around at all the tall grass as we all laughed. I picked up the flower crowns and set them onto my moms and Athena's heads as I started feeling achy and tired.

"Well done Aurora, but I can see you are getting tired already I will report progress to the council so we can add a segment into your warrior test," as she smiled.

"Adding to my warrior test?" I asked curious to know why I was being treated special.

"It's to see how you can use your environment to defend yourself and others per the request of your mate Alpha Xavier," said Athena amused.

"I understand and thank you for explaining the reasoning behind it," as I tried to keep my growl of frustration in. Athena said her goodbyes to us trying to hide her amusement at my sudden burst of irritation at the mention of my mate's name. Oh, Xavier when you get back here I'm going to chew your ass out for this. I felt Aspen's amusement as I felt my body feeling drained but not nearly as bad as last time.

"Go take a nap now you will need to be well rested for your session with Felix tomorrow," said my mom as we headed back inside. I went and grabbed the letter, journal, and my phone and headed to my room. I sent a quick text to Xavier letting him know I was taking a nap and had some news to share with him as soon as he was free to talk. I curled up on my bed suddenly feeling exhausted and drifted off to sleep.

Hidden within the trees, my scent masked by a spell cast by the dark hunter I was bound to. I watched as the wolf known as Aurora practiced her magic. So it's true then the elemental wolves are starting to awaken their full potential. She has grown into a beautiful young woman, if only I could reveal myself to her to warn her what Blood Moon pack has become and what they plan to do. I watched as she opened her eyes a beautiful glowing green, I knew that her eyes were normally brown like mine. Soon she would learn the truth, and soon she would begin her search for the others. I have no idea how she ended up here at Silver Moon Pack but I'm glad and it seems she has found her mate as well. I knew I couldn't stay here forever but it was good to know she was in good hands. May the moon goddess continue to bless and protect you Aurora.
