Chapter 31 Battle for the Alpha Title part 1

When morning came Xavier let me know that everything was set up for the festival but his tone was solemn even through our mind link. We were lucky to have only lost fifteen wolves total with many more suffering injuries that they would recover from with time. Despite the dreary tone set for the day I was seething mad. My father would not be the Alpha for long if I had any say in the matter. When I found out my brother had been taken it took Lily and my mom about an hour to calm me down from my rage and lust for bloodshed.

I glanced around the room as the woman and children got dressed in turns for the festival that would end with a memorial bonfire this evening. Athena was in contact with her mate and was prepared to help with border patrol. More of their fighters were already on their way in from Greece and would be here by nightfall. I could still sense the fear in some of the pack members and did my best to keep calm despite my eagerness to rescue my brother from the clutches of my father. I took a deep breath and exhaled slowly feeling my body relax and the go alert when the doorbell rang to the safehouse.

Athena was at the door wolf ready to shift when she checked the security camera and realized it was only Alpha Kade and a few of his best warriors.

"Good morning, Athena, Aurora, we are here to escort everyone back to the compound for the harvest festival festivities," he said solemnly glancing around the room.

"Any news from the dark hunters or from Alpha Jared about Heath being captured?" asked a red eyed and exhausted Lily. My heart hurt for her and I would do everything in my power to help get her mate back to her.

"We have but now is not the time or place to discuss such matters," he said his tone gruff. "We will be holding an urgent meeting for the Alphas and request that all the elemental wolves be present as well," he said with a glance in my direction and I nodded that I understood. I felt Aspen bristle at his tone she knew something big was coming.

"When do we meet and where?" I asked Kade gently as I watched my mom playing with Cypress.

"We will gather in the conference room in an hour, refreshments have been provided by some of our human vendors," he said in awe and I knew there was more he wanted to say on the matter but kept quiet.

"We will be there, but let's get the women and children back to the pack house," I said as Athena and I locked eyes briefly.

"Listen up everyone, we are heading back to the festival grounds at Pine Mountain, we hope that you will be able to enjoy the day with our very generous human vendors. I know some of you lost loved ones in the fight that ensued last night and my condolences to you and your loved ones." Alpha Kade said looking around the room at the many faces of his pack and even Xavier's with kindness.

It took only twenty minutes to get everyone back to Pine Mountain as we were able to take the main roads back into town once we were some distance from the safe house. Athena made sure it was secured with warriors posted in and around the perimeter. Cypress was safely wrapped in his carrier and currently sleeping. His scent and his breathing were soothing to me and I felt Aspen's admiration for our pup. As we pulled into the festival area I was in awe. The barns were decorated with fall colors and pumpkins were everywhere. The booths were each decorated for the contest and trick or treating that would take place later in the afternoon. I took in the lovely fall smells and smiled when I picked up the smell of freshly made kettle corn coming from a food booth. I noticed the human children were playing and running around the straw bales set up in the play area with the pup of the packs currently here.

"It is good to see the pups playing with children their own age isn't it?" said my mom as she walked to where I was standing observing everything taking place around me.
