At one a clock on the dot the closing shift made their way into the café . Most of the closing staff was human since most of the pack members wanted to be home with their mates. I went to my locker and grabbed my belongings and threw my apron into the laundry hamper.
"Hey Ari, what are your plans for the rest of the day?" asked an animated but tired Lily.
" Have to be at the training center at four today and might go home to nap unless Marie needs any help," as I watched her take her hair out of the ponytail and fluffed it out.
"Aww girl, I was hoping we could watch movies this afternoon and gossip about our visitors," whined Lily as she walked with me out of the café to where our cars were parked.
"Rain check besides I have to be up at the packhouse at seven for a meeting with the Alpha," I said as I fidgeted with my car keys.
"That's news, you have to be a nervous wreck about tonight then," as she turned to look at me her eyes filled with concern.
"I am but I won't be alone Flynn will be there and so will Jake," as I watched her relax at the mention of her cousin's name.
" Well you know how to reach me if you need to talk, I'm here for you," she said giving me a bear hug before getting into her truck and driving off.
I tossed my bag into the backseat and put my sunglasses on and put the jeep into gear. The drive was uneventful back to the rustic and cozy cabin that I've called home for the past six years. I parked the Jeep, and grabbed my bag from the backseat and jogged up the stairs. Once inside the mudroom I removed my shoes, and hung up my bag. I went into the kitchen and found a sandwich prepared for me in the fridge and grabbed a bag of chips to go with it. I decided to stick to water instead of my usual sweet tea since I had to train later. I finished my late lunch and proceeded into my bedroom.
Hey Aspen, I think we have time to run before we meet at the training center, you in?, I asked my wolf.
Oh yes, that would be fantastic and hopefully uneventful, I have a strange feeling about this afternoon, she replied back thoughtfully.
We will head to Moonstone Farms and see if there is anything, we can do to help Beta Hunter and his mate with the fall crops.
I grabbed a sports bra, and a pair of athletic shorts from my drawer knowing that I would need clothes to change into afterwards. I took off my clothes since they would just be shredded when I shifted. I grabbed my robe from my closet and put it on and headed outside to one of the tall evergreens on the property. I took off my robe and set my change of clothes on top of it and then I was ready to shift.
I felt the change in my body as my bones and muscles rearranged themselves a painful process but one that I enjoyed. I felt myself complete the change to my wolf and landed on the soft ground on all four paws. I knew Aspen was huge with the bloodline of an alpha, dark brown fur, and eyes that were a deep brown. I allowed her to take full control for this part of the run feeling her enthusiasm and joy. We ran through the mountains on a trail towards the farm and off any major roadways. The scent of the breeze gave us a clue that a storm was on the way. As we approached the entrance to Moonstone farms where the fall harvest festival takes place every year. Aspen gave full control of our wolf form to me, I paused at the entrance taking in the scents and sight before me.
Ari, be on your guard something isn't right, piped up an alarmed but alert Aspen.
I can smell them! Rogues at Moonstone Farms, I shouted through my link to Alpha Kade.
Track them and engage if you have to, but protect Violet and her pup she is still there, pack warriors and myself are on the way, Alpha Kade calmly replied back.
