Chapter 16 Luna Returns

Two chapter update today as it's Fall Break, Enjoy!

I headed down to the dining hall to get dinner for myself and Xavier. Feeling Aspen's joy of possibly being a mother soon and it was contagious. I glanced around and saw Heath with his new found mate and my best friend Lily. I noticed that neither was marked yet but had a feeling that would change overnight.

"Hello lovebirds," I teased as I passed by them.

"Aurora come join us when you get your food," said Lily enthusiastically.

"I was going to eat in my room with Xavier," I replied to her.

"Tell him to join us we can eat together than seeing as we will be family soon," she said as Heath and I shared a knowing look. We were finally family again after six long years not knowing if he was alive or not.

"I will ask him," as I proceeded to the line to get food.

Heath and Lily would like for us to eat dinner with them if you are up for it, I asked him.

I'm still weary of your brother but I will join you, he growled.

I sighed as I asked for two plates and waited for the omega to dish up tonight's dinner of meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and grilled veggies. She placed the plates on the tray and was about to hand it to me when Xavier grabbed it.

"I will carry this if you can carry the bottles of water," said Xavier warmly.

He led the way other pack members acknowledging the visiting Alpha respectfully. As we joined Heath, and Lily I noticed Jake walking towards us looking exhausted.

"Jake come join us you look completely exhausted," said Lily taking in his appearance.

"I will I think if that's okay, it was a long day and with my mom being gone running the café has been a bit of a challenge," he said rubbing his tired eyes.

Xavier and I shared a look between us and knew that a pack without a Luna present can cause more harm and the pack isn't at full strength. We started to eat our food once an omega brought a plate out for Jake. The conversation flowed around us Xavier and Heath talked about what happened after I healed him after he apologized profusely for hurting him. We were laughing at a memory of Heath had of me wanting to shift into wolf when I was three was when the entire room went silent. Alpha Kade had just entered the room when he froze and eyes went wide. I felt a connection rejoining the pack after a long absence away to deal with the passing of her father, Luna Isabella was home.

"Silver Moon it is with great pleasure to share that Luna Isabella is finally home," said a very happy Alpha Kade. Jake jumped up and went to be by his father's side. "She asks that you all continue to enjoy your meal she will be joining us shortly," said Alpha Kade as he led Jake to wait for the Luna's return.

"That should cheer up Jake and the Alpha," said Lily thoughtfully.

"I agree Isabella normally helps with the new hires at the café and she is expecting a pup last I heard," said Felix who arrived when I wasn't paying attention.

I blushed replaying the conversation I had with Aspen earlier and felt Xavier's eyes on me.

"What is on your mind love of mine," he asked softly.

"I will tell you later when we are alone," I said shyly and he smirked.

"Good evening Silver Moon, I have finally returned home and have missed you all," said Luna Isabella as she was escorted in by Alpha Kade we felt the packs bond strengthen. Her kind green eyes, and smile was contagious as she took in the members that were in the dining hall. She was indeed expecting a pup as our pregnancy only lasts four months. Our eyes met and widened as she saw who was next to me.

Welcome home Luna, I said.

My dear Aurora I am so proud of you and congratulations on finding yourself a handsome mate, she said.

Thank you, Luna as I bowed my head respectfully.

She smiled at me before turning her attention back to her mate while Jake went to get dinner for them.

"Please continue with your meals, we will have a formal pack bonfire tomorrow night if this pup doesn't decide to arrive tomorrow," she said as we all laughed.

"Wow this pack runs much differently than Blood Moon," said Heath as he took in the warmth of the pack members who greeted him.

"Father ran our pack with very strict terms and sometimes not always ethical," I explained to Lily and Xavier.

"As much as I would love to stay and chat longer, my energy is still not where it is supposed to be," said Xavier as he yawned.

"Have a good night Alpha Xavier, Aurora, promise you will call me before you leave for Black Crescent?" asked Lily.

"I will," as I hugged her and then hugged my brother tightly. Xavier and I stopped by Alpha Kade and Luna Isabella to say goodnight.

"It is a pleasure to meet you in person Alpha Xavier, I heard about everything that has happened in your pack you have a very strong Luna by your side. We hope you will come back for our annual Harvest Festival." Said Luna Isabella as rubbed her belly.

"I will definitely try to visit then I know Aurora will want to visit with her family and friends here," he said as he hugged me to his side.

"Perfect," she said and with that we headed back up to our room. As soon as we walked into our room Xavier hugged me close to him. I looked at him curiously as he looked down at me his nostrils flared as shock registered through him.

"You're in heat," he stated bluntly as I hid my face into his chest.

"Aspen pointed it out to me earlier," I mumbled.

"That explains your attack on me as I was coming out of the bathroom," he stated as I gasped in shock as he smirked playfully.

"I do remember hearing you say you were going to show me what you could do old man," I teased back feeling my heat flare up.

"That's why I pulled you away from your friends this evening," he said as stared down at me.

"Challenge accepted, Alpha," I teased as he growled and lunged at me throwing me on the bed. It was going to be a long night but I knew that when the sun rose tomorrow that my journey as mate and Luna would begin.
