Aspen took control as we pounded the wet earth, paws muddy, as we followed the trail from the packhouse up to Moonstone falls. The very spot where Alpha Kade found me broken and exhausted six years ago. I scented the wet earth, the rain fell harder now as the storm raged on. I heard the roar of the falls as we entered the meadow with the wildflowers and lush trees. I found a spot that provided a natural shelter in a small cave near the spring that formed below the falls. Aspen gave me full control back as I settled into the small cave. I shook out my soaked brown fur spraying water droplets in every direction. Once I was done I laid down and I set my head on my paws and closed my eyes fearing what would happen when I went back to the packhouse.
A few hours passed and I was still curled up in my wolf form in the cave. The storm had passed and it was just raining now as I smelled the damp earth, and the sound of the falls relaxing me. I heard a sudden snap of a branch and I perked my ears up and lifted my head letting out a warning growl to whoever was coming towards me. His scent hit me first of sandalwood and vanilla before I saw his huge black wolf slowly making his way towards me. I was fearful about why he was here and unable to communicate except in whines and growls. He sniffed the air taking in my scent lingering with fear. He let out a pained whine as he approached me and I looked at his wolfs eyes they were kind and warm. I laid my head down submissively to let him know I accepted his presence. He stopped directly in front of me and lowered his head and licked my muzzle. I knew then that was his way of saying you will be all right. He laid down beside me resting his head over my back as we waited for the rain to fizzle out.
He stayed with me until the rain passed before getting up and shaking out his fur. He nudged me gently to get up and follow him. We haven't completed the run with our wolves yet so we were unable to mind link yet. I had a feeling that was about to change but knew we had to talk about what happened tonight. I watched Xavier as he approached the spring and shift back to human form. He was sexy, tanned skin, tattoos over his arms and chest, and he was amazing. I felt Aspen purr in excitement and appreciation.
"Are you going to join me little mate or are you going to keep checking me out?" He smirked at me and I huffed at him causing him to laugh. I watched as he entered the spring and I shifted back.
"I will join you Alpha," I said with as much sass as I could manage. He turned and grinned at me his eyes checking me out as I walked into the spring. The cool water was refreshing after the summer day and was healing somehow to me. He waded in deeper and I quickly joined him. As I swam in front of him he reached out and pulled me close to him and that's when I remembered his look of rage before I ran out. I felt his arms stiffen around me as he scented my fear.
"You don't have to fear me little mate, nor do you need to worry about your father hurting you either," he said as he placed a gentle kiss on my forehead.
"You don't understand the look on your face was terrible for me to see, I thought you were going to reject me," I shuddered as I told him my deepest fear hiding my face against his chest.
"I'm not going to reject to little mate," as he placed a finger under my chin to look up into his eyes. "I've waited a very long time for you and I will always be by your side," he said warmly and I could tell he was being truthful as his eyes danced with happiness and warmth.
"When the time comes for you to face Blood Moon it will be as my Luna, warrior, and elemental," he said and I couldn't help but smile up at him relieved. He leaned down and kissed me gently on the lips chuckling at my blush when I realized our position allowed for me to feel his arousal against my thigh.
"What scares you about facing your past?" He asked gently refusing to let me go.
"I'm scared of facing him after so long to be honest," I said shuttering as I remembered the night I was banished. He looked at me with a determined and reassuring look.
"You will always have me by your side Aurora," he said warmly as I looked into his gentle loving brown eyes.
"We can talk more back at the packhouse I don't know about you but I'm famished," he said releasing me from his grasp. I couldn't help but laugh at his random comment and his laughter was music to my ears. He released me and we headed out of the spring.
"Join me for a run Aurora Knight and let our wolves connect as one," he commanded and I smiled and nodded. We would complete one of the steps to establishing our mate bond on the run back to the packhouse. I watched as he shifted into his wolf staring in awe at his size before he turned his head to look at me and I shifted. I felt Aspen, her eagerness and happiness was infectious. I walked over to Xavier and wagged my tail and yipped playfully before letting Aspen take over. She started at a slow trot before going faster down the trail. Xavier's wolf was quickly catching up to us he nipped playfully at my heels before overtaking us. We kept playing our game of cat and mouse until he suddenly stopped and I almost slid into him at the abruptness of his stop. We were still hidden in the trees just before the deck area of the packhouse. His tongue was hanging out the side of his mouth and I knew I looked the same. He turned his wolf to face mine and when our eyes connected I felt the mate bond strongly and we heard his wolf.
My name is Zeus, and we accept you as our mate, he said enthusiastically.
My name is Aspen, and we also accept you as our mate, she purred and laughed at how sultry she was being as she approached him.
She nuzzled Zeus, Xavier and I knew the importance of them bonding and we let them have time before we would take control back. I knew that we had finally connected on a deeper level but would need to fully complete the mate bond soon. For now, we observed our wolves and embraced their love and warmth for each other.
Decided to update a little bit earlier than planned things will start to get interesting now. Let me know what you thought of this chapter.
