14: 'Til the End of Time
Love is one of those things that you don't fully understand or appreciate its effect until it's taken away from you.
I stare at him as the police officer tells him something. I can't make out what he's saying from across the room.
The only good thing about today is that my father was going to jail right along with him. I'm not sure for how long, but I'm just happy he's getting time, too.

"Don't do anything stupid, AJ," Zayn says, rambling on. "When I get out, I don't want to hear that you got shot or something like that because you we're on the wrong side of town."
I roll my eyes. "I'm not going to."
"Annie, I swear-"
"Zayn, I'm going to be fine," I tell him.
He sighs. "Listen, I don't want you visiting me. I want you to graduate, go to college and move on. Date other people, do whatever you want. And when I get out, if we find each other again, we'll be together."
