Chapter 29: Not Gonna Write You a Love Song {TEASER}

“Niall, don’t forget your guitar,” Liam called down the hallway, as we make our way to the elevator.

Niall stopped, turned around and groaned, walking back to their place. He stopped at the door and Liam chuckled from next to me.

“Niall, you should always have your keys on you. What if I forget?” Liam asked him as he tossed him his set of keys.

“I ask Zayn,” he replied with a grin, unlocking the door and walking inside.

Zayn laughed and slung his arm around my shoulders. “I never remember my key.”

I smiled at him. “Like that night after the charity concert,” I told him.

He smirked. “It was only one time,” he said.

“One time too many,” I scolded him.

“She’s right,” Liam told him.

Niall walked back down the hall after locking his door. “Can we go now?” he whined.

Louis shook his head. “We’re waiting for Haz.”

I had gone another week and a half with him not talking to me. The rest of the boys knew, but I told them not to tell Michelle or Frankie because they would freak out.

Zayn pulled me into his side, almost protectively as Harry walked down the hall. He didn't say anything. Not that I expected him to. I wanted him to, but he didn't. Just a simple smile would've gone a long way.

He looked really tired, like he hadn't had a proper nights sleep in about a month. He avoided eye contact, just smiling at Louis. It was a forced smile; even Louis noticed.

“You alright Harry?” Louis asked him, squeezing his shoulder.

“Fine,” Harry said bluntly.

Niall tightened his grip on his guitar case, staring at Harry. Harry stared down at his converse, trying avoid Niall's hard look. You could cut through the tension with a knife.

Liam cleared his throat, causing Niall to look at him. “We should get going,” Liam said, pushing the elevator button.

The six of us made our way down to the lobby. Paul was waiting for us with a smile.

"Hi sweetie," he said to me, kissing my head in a fatherly way.

I smiled at him and followed everyone out to the car.

Liam sat in the back with Niall and I. Zayn sat in the middle row with Lou, and Harry rode up front with Paul.

"He still hasn't talked to you?" Liam asked in a hushed tone.

I shook my head. "He hasn't said a word to me since we came back," I told him, matching his quiet tone.

Liam sighed.  “Three weeks,” he muttered.

I just shrugged. I didn't feel anything anymore. My emotions were just numb at that point. I didn't feel happy, but I wasn't sad or depressed. I was just done with love and trying with Harry. I honestly just wanted to go home and have some stupid kid from my class flirt with me. I felt like I needed a pointless fling to make me feel better.

The car came to a stop in front if the studio and was immediately surrounded by fans.

Paul groaned from the front seat. He rubbed his temple and took off his seat belt.

"Harry get in the back. You have to walk in with Elisa," he told him.

Harry took of his seat belt, keeping an emotionless look plastered on his face. He then moved to sit in the middle row with Louis and Zayn. The windows were tired so everybody outside couldn't see in.

Liam helped me over the seat to sit on top of Zayn, waiting to get out.

Harry didn't look at me or even acknowledge me. Nothing new.

"We're going to stop for five minutes to sign things, but then we have to go in because you're all already late," Paul explained. "Wait until I open the door," he said, getting out of the car.

We sat in an awkward silence until, a voice I didn't expect to hear, spoke up.

Harry cleared his throat and looked at me. "While we're signing things, don't leave my side. I don't want them harassing you with questions," he told me.

That was the most he's said to me in three and a half weeks. The most he's said to me in the whole month of August.

I felt that emotion again in the pit of my stomach. Happiness.

He actually talked to me and said more than yes or no.

I know it sounds stupid, but heart fluttered.

I nodded and smiled at him.

My stomach did a flip as he returned a toothy grin. Dimples and everything. His smile even made it to his eyes, making them and even brighten shade of green.

The car door opened and Paul let us all out. We piled out and walked out, Harry held my hand.

He held my hand. He hasn't done that in almost a month. I just loved the way his big hand wrapped around mine protectively. The way his long fingers interlocked with mine. The way his hand was always warm, but not a sweaty, clammy kind of warm. They were warm and inviting, making my skin burn at the touch.

I know it sounds stupid or crazy that I get that feeling of security with him just holding my hand. It's true though. To be honest, I don't even understand it myself.

The boys went down the line, signing as many things as they good, taking a few pictures as they went. I wasn't really paying much attention, though. I was in a daze. A happy daydream where everything was okay again.

I felt a tug on my hand and snapped out of it, looking at Harry.

"Babe, let's go," he said with a chuckle.

God, did I miss his laugh.

"I'm coming," I mumbled as I let him pull me inside. I followed behind and through the building.
