Levi POV

"You're going to have to get along with him at one point. He is you're uncle." My mother said to me.

"Well, if he were to stay around that can make me more inclined to try and get along with him, but if he is going to be belittling my wife and seeing her as just a baby making machine, then I won't give him a chance anymore. I've given him so many already, it isn't fair how we are treated." I said to my mother with an attitude.

She just stared at me and smiled softly at me.

"You called her your wife." She said smiling.

"Well she is, even if I don't like it and we are strictly platonic, she is my wife, we are legally married... then again I don't know how legal it is to force two people into a marriage." I said primarily to myself.

"That doesn't mean you aren't becoming fond of her. She's growing onto you. Especially when you called in and said you wouldn't be making it cause she had a nightmare in the middle of the day. Or or how about when she had gotten drunk when you two went on your outing and you took care of her the next day. Or maybe what about agreeing to getting a puppy with her so she has a companion when she's at the apartment alone. I'm telling you Levi, you aren't seeing it, but she is doing works on your heart." My mother said to me while chuckling and holding paperwork in her hands.

"Well, I have a response and a reason to everything you just said." I said to her.

It caught her attention.

She looked at me and smirked.

"Really now? I want to hear what you have to say about this." My mother said putting down her paperwork and interlacing her hands together.

Well my reasons...

I'm not going to tell her Y/N got sick because we went out, she drank much more than she should have, we both got horny, and then she threw up the next day from drinking.

I'm not going to tell her that we got Pepino because I thought that it would actually lead us to enjoy each others presence and argue less, also because she spoke so fondly of him.

I'm not going to tell her that I stayed with Y/N after her nightmare because I was scared that if I left her alone, she would end up hurting herself, or that she could freak out again and have no one there to comfort her.

I wasn't going to tell my mom that Y/N was working wonders to me like she said she was.

"For her being drunk, I took her out and allowed her to drink too much, that was irresponsible of me and I had to deal with it. It was my fault so it was my responsibility to make sure she felt better. Us getting a puppy, she'll have things to do during the day instead of just being at home alone, she just needed something to do. And her nightmare, it would be wrong to just let her suffer alone after a night like that. It would be an asshole move to just leave her alone. That's all there is too it." I said with annoyance in my voice.

"Uh huh, keep lying to yourself, eventually you'll accept it and see that she is pulling at your heart strings. Ah young oblivious love. I was there at one point." My mom said smiling off into the distance.

"It's not love mom. We're just forced to be around one another. We still argue quite a bit." I said to her.

"Oh trust me, you haven't argued with one another since she had her bad dream. You're being gentle with her. You may not want to hear it from me, but that's what it is Levi. You're caring for her way more than just a friendly acquaintance would do. And that isn't a bad thing at all! It's just something, you young man, have to get used to. Who knows, maybe she is getting used to it too."

She was right.

The closest thing we've gotten to arguing since her nightmare wasn't even an argument.

I just yelled at her for cutting the potatoes recklessly and I myself freaked out because of it. She just laughed it off and said she was fine and made me get the first aid kit.

But since her night mare, no, we haven't argued.

"Is it that obvious we haven't argued?" I asked my mom.

"Well, yes and no, you seem to be more stressed lately, but not because you have argued with Y/N. It's almost as if you are holding things in. Does arguing with Y/N relive a lot of stress for you?"

"A little."

"I get that. I used to argue with your uncle Kenny about the littlest things when we were younger, then you came along and we've mellowed out. But I say yes and no because you don't come in and yell at the staff for pointless little things. You haven't for a while and they're starting to pick up on it. A lot of them have come up with their own theories. I heard that one of the staff members theorized that Y/N was now pregnant and that's why you've calmed down a bit. Of course that got dismissed very quickly by Eren and Armin. They made sure none of that spread around, but that didn't stop them from telling me." She smiled.

"Why is everyone bringing up that Y/N should be pregnant? We aren't having kids yet." I asked a little frustrated.

"That's the next step in marriage sweetheart. You two can have children when you want to, but that really is the next step to things. You'll notice it gets brought up quite a bit in conversation if people know you are married." She said smiling.

"We're not having kids for a while. I hope you know that. I haven't even entertained a conversation like that with Y/N." I said.

Well, about having our own kids we haven't talked about that.

We have talked about potentially becoming foster parents in the future. Helping children would be great, and I know Y/N would want to do that.

"And you guys have complete control over the discussion of kids. At least from me you do, you might have to scare Y/N's dad into agreeing to butt out of that discussion."

"When we're ready, we're ready. We don't have the mental capacity to be caring for another human life when we are basically still getting used to taking care of one another." I said to my mom.

"And I think you are doing a great job at taking care of her. That girl needs a lot of love and affection. And validation a bit as well. She's a sweet girl though." My mom said to me with a smile on her face.

"Yeah yeah you always mention that when we talk about her." I said waving her off.

"I'm going to get started on my work. Remember, your uncle is trying to do things in good nature, but sometimes he's wrong. I really think you should try and get along with him. He used to be your best friend when you were younger." My mom said.

"Used to be mom. Not any more. He's a toxic person to be around." I said. I turned towards her office door.

"I get it. Just know he'll be around here and there. He's still family." She said.

Family I prefer to stay away from.

And plus, I'm slowly building my own little family.

Just me, Y/N and Pepino.

That's our little world.

I exited her office with a smile on my face.

My own little family.

That doesn't have a bad ring to it.
