Chapter 6- Saying goodbye

It's a few days later and Maya is on shift.
"So how's living with your boss?" Kelly asks
"I mean it's okay! But I'm scared to leave a dish in the sink or my laundry on the ground!" Maya says as she smiles
"Oh and they snore! Extremely loud!" Maya says
"That's firefighters for you!" Casey says laughing
Mayas phone then starts to ring and she looks a little worried when she reads the name
"You okay?" Casey whispers
"It's the hospital!" Maya says picking up her phone and walking out followed by Casey
Maya answers the phone and talks to them for a minute. After she ends the call she goes pale and her legs feel like jelly. She collapses onto the ground and Casey catches her
"Woah!" Casey says as he stands her up
"Let's get you sat down" Casey says sitting her down on her bed
"It's my mum...I need to say my goodbyes! They didn't think she will make it through the night" Maya says whilst sobbing
"Come here!" Casey says pulling her into a hug
"Have you called your dad?" Casey asks
"The hospital did, he's not coming. He can't bare to see her like that" Maya says resting her head on caseys shoulder
"What about dean? Your brother?" Casey asks
"He's in London! He can't fly over in time!" Maya says sadly
"I'll come with you!" Casey says
"Oh Matt! You don't have to do that!" Maya says lifting her head off of matts shoulder
"Clearly you need support and I'm here!" Matt says looking directly into Mayas eyes
"You were always there for me"Maya says leaning in
"And your were always there for me!" Matt says leaning in too
They stare at each other for a second and think whether this is a good idea or not until Matts lips press against Mayas
"Sorry Maya!" Casey says getting up and quickly walking out
"Matt!" Maya calls out
She watches him walk away and pretending like nothing has happened. But Maya wanted this to happen, she wanted her Mr.Loverman back but she was beginning to think that her Mr.Loverman didn't want her. Maya didn't know whether to go and find him and talk it out but she decided that it's best to sit and think about what she is going to say to her mum tonight. Her mum still doesn't know that her and Matt split up all those years ago. And Maya is thinking that she shouldn't never tell her....
