Maya is in her quarters when she hears a knock at the door
"Come in!" Maya shouts
"Hey!" Dawson says smiling
"Oh hey! Come on in and take a seat!" Maya says smiling
"I didn't really get to talk to you out there so I thought we could have a little chat!" Gabby says enthusiastically
"Sure!" Maya says turning around
"So how do you know Casey? It's just Capp mentioned you knowing him from before you came here?" Gabby asks
"Oh he was Umm a friend from high school! I stayed friends with him after that though!" Maya says
"Oh! Why did you leave?" Gabby asks
"I got a job offer in New York! That's where I became a captain actually! Casey helped me through some pretty rough times! I owe him one!" Maya says
"What times! If you don't mind me asking!" Gabby says nicely
"Oh Umm I had a miscarriage! I was about 5 months along! My boyfriend at the time had just left me! I think I cried in caseys arms for about an hour that day" Maya says holding back the tears
"Oh god! I'm so sorry! Did you know the gender?" Gabby asks
"Yeah I did! It was a little girl! I loved the name Aria for her!" Maya says
"Is that what that ultrasound picture is on your desk?" Gabby asks pointing to the picture
"Oh yeah! That's her! She was a little boxer!" Maya says smiling at the picture
"I fostered a little boy before I left! His name was Louie and he was great! Gabby says pulling out her phone and showing Maya a picture
"He's the cutest! Casey must have been very lucky!" Maya says smiling
"Well I need to get going! I have a dinner thing with my parents tonight!" Dawson says standing up and walking out
Maya gets on with some paperwork before heading out as she has a doctors appointment. It's just a check up as she gets one every year due to her miscarriage. The doctor checks her out and comes back in with the results
"I'm afraid it's not very good news Miss Avery" the doctor says sitting down
"What? What's wrong?" Maya asks starting to panic
"We ran a few more tests and we believe that you may not be able to have kids" The doctor says
"What? This is a joke right? Please tell me it's a joke!" Maya says panicking
"I'm afraid it's not! I'll leave you to process this!" The doctor says before walking out...
