"be with someone who makes your mondays feel like fridays"

it was the first day of school, a week after venus had seen Dally at the prison, and a week until she would have to deal with him being back in tulsa.

as promised, venus pulled in front of the curtis's house at about seven-thirty, and made her way up the deck steps just as soda busted the door open. "see ya later, steve!" he called into the house, before almost bumping into the girl. "hey venus, bye venus," he chorused as he passed her and walked out onto the street, true in nature, with his shoes in his hands.

"bye soda?" venus said confused, as two-bit yanked her into the house by her arm with an urgency.

"help me!" he begged, shoving a book into her hands hurriedly. "if i don't finish this report by third period, mr. thompson'll have my head," two-bit explained, steering her toward the kitchen table that was still filled with plates from the breakfast they were eating.

venus sat down confused, before darry tore through, taking the book from her grasp. "don't do it," he demanded, handing it back to two-bit. "he already tried to get ponyboy to. he's gotta do it himself," darry explained, before picking up his things for work.

"oh piss off!" two-bit exclaimed, shoving some cake in his mouth with an overloaded fork.

"thanks for driving pony," darry added, getting ready to leave. "you saved me."

"no problem!" venus called out as darry left out the front door, but was still trying to catch up with the rapid happenings in the house.

johnny sat next to her, quiet and demure, before glancing over to venus. "don't worry," he said softly. "you get used to this."

huffing in dispair, venus looked back over to him, shaking her head. "how long did it take you?" she questioned.

"i'll let you know, when i get there," johnny said cheekily, before something clattered in the kitchen.

"oh look what you did now, you—" steve and two-bit began to fight as pony finally exited his room, the only one who seemed completely ready to go.

today was certainly gonna be a long day.

johnny had been nice enough to walk her to almost every class, or at least point her in the right direction. she made a deal with steve that she would do all his algebra homework for him in exchange for coffee every morning before school. and angela and venus laughed every time her home economics teacher brought up the skewed ideas of what "a woman's place was" in the house.

and that was it. by seventh period, the stretch for going home, venus had officially ran out of classes with her friends. she had history and spanish without knowing anyone, but was able to steal a spot in the back of the room and keep her head down through the forty minutes.

but now, it was gym class. aka: venus's absolute worst nightmare, the locker room.

she kept her head in her locker, trying to muster up enough courage to change into the horrid physical education uniforms the girls had to wear, but every time she had, her mind kept flashing back to the party— to reggie.

she couldn't believe someone would be evil enough to take pictures of her like that. she couldn't believe anyone saw her like that, without her consent, far before she was ready.
