ahhhhh!!! this story is officially done! :(((
but first, a few words on why I ended it the way I did—-
I originally planned on having Dally die canonically, but realized the nature of his death. It was hopeless; dying with a sense of hating the world and little character change.
I thought it would be awful for there to have been no progress at all in this story— and it just wouldn't make sense for him to have died that way.
Instead, trying to stay as true to the original plot as possible, but still not completely crushing my soul, I wanted his death to be a beacon of hope almost. That even in his last moments he didn't see helping others as this useless thing that he always had, but rather understood the satisfaction in doing so :))
ANYWAYSSS, I'm sorry if I completely caught you off guard or hurt ur feelings with the last chapter!! You can pretend it never happened if you would like :))
