bella literally did not know what to do. does she greet jake's parents, grabbed a snack and leave, or do neither and hide in the couch?

"bella good morning!" her dad sarcastically joked, making bella's cheeks go red immediately at how embarrassed she was and how contrasting the clothes were.

bella gave a tight smile to her dad, hoping that he can read her angry expression, whoop there goes her anger issues rising.

"bella, you look so different the last time i saw you!" mrs. sim complimented.

bella mentally replied, 'no duh i was nine' but she ignored it, planting an innocent smile to ms.sim.

"it's nice to see you again." bella greeted back in her customer service voice.

"why don't you and jake and talk at our backyard? he needs some company." bella's mom suggested. bella gulped- giving her resting bitch face to her mom.

she exhaled, mostly sounding an upset one. and she smiled.

"sure." she blandly said, as if she didn't mean it.

bella walked towards her kitchen cabinets to grab a light snack to munch on.

the sad part, she didn't exchange eye contact with jake when he was definitely looking at her.

bella closed the cabinets, seeing a jake looking at the ground, dozing.

"jake." bella spit out, causing jake to be surprised at the sudden voice.

bella moved her head towards the backyard door. jake nodded, getting up from his seat to follow bella to the backyard.

"you have a swing now?" jake stated the not-so-obvious when he went to the backyard, hinting some curiosity in his tone.

bella simply nodded, "we got it not to long ago." bella sat down first.

"why do you keep standing, sit down." sounded more like an order instead of an option when bella said that.

jake sat down next to her, giving a good comfortable distance. after uncomfortable silence between the two for five seconds, they spoke.

"how are-"

the two of the cringed when they spoke at the same time, exchanging awkward glances towards one another.

once again. they both chuckled, amused.

"how are you?" jake said first, giving a small smile at the dark grass in front of them with a light swung of the swing.

"stressed. college is around the corner.." bella sighed, already exhausted just by thinking of the upcoming exams and applications.

"kinda sucks for me since i have to get used to the new environment on my senior year." jake pouted his lips.

bella looked at jake, first noticing his sharp jawline and his high nose. god even his profile looked even more handsome than before.

"why are you back?" bella asked softly, even though her tone hinted some sadness.

"well.." jake started fiddling with his fingers. "my dad was done with his work abroad, so we just decided to come back to korea to spend the rest of our lives here." jake explained as bella nodded.

"want a cookie?" bella suddenly offered, her arm extending towards jake with a half eaten box of cookies.

jake smiled and grabbed one, munching on it.

"you asked me that question as if you don't want me here." jake bitterly spoke, taking another bite.

bella was caught off guard, her thoughts running "was i that mean to him?"

bella panicky chuckled. "it's not like that."

jake gave her an eyebrow raised, looking at the nervous girl trying to find an excuse.

"at school it definitely was." jake chuckled, amused by bella's response.

she scratched her head, "i didn't know you came today. it was all sudden." bella honestly replied.

"you didn't look too excited when you saw me." jake eyed bella with his eyebrows raised up.

bella gulped. "i thought it wasn't you.. you looked unrecognizable."

jake smiled by that response. "are you saying i'm good looking?" his cocky behavior showed.

bella rolled her eyes. "bye. as if."

"do you do remember me?" jake asked in anticipation, as if that was his main question waiting for an answer.

bella cheekily smiled, nodded.

jake jumped in his seat in happiness, bella does remember jake.
