I run my hand through my hair as I look down at the blank canvas in front of me. I just have to think. The assignment is to paint a portrait. It was the last assignment before the actual written exam I will sit at the end of the semester. I just had to find someone to paint. A lot of people in my class are choosing people from the university, so it's easy to paint them during class time too. I didn't know if I wanted to do that though. I could always paint Luke's girlfriend. She is into art too and would be totally cool with being a model for me but if Luke would be totally cool with that could be a different thing. There is always Luke. He goes to this university. He would be okay with it, I think. That might be even weirder than painting Karlie though.

I sigh and tap on the table top with my pencil. I puff out my cheeks as I think and scrunch up my nose and close my eyes. I must look pretty stupid, or funny, or either because I hear a little giggle in front of me. I open my eyes to see Mia standing in front of me trying to hold back a laugh.

"What?" I ask her.

"Nothing," She waves me off and turns around to the fridge and gets out a bottle of water.

"No," I get up from the stool at the breakfast bar, ignoring the canvas now and making my way over to her. "What is it?"

"Just your face." Mia replies and stands up from the fridge with a bottle of water in her hand.

"Well that's just mean." I tell her and she lets out a big laugh.

Mia and I have been together for only three months but I've known her for way longer. We met about nine months ago. It was Karlie and Luke I have to thank. Karlie knew her because of Becca, one of Karlie's friends and Calum's ex. Becca and Mia have been friends since they were kids but lost touch once they went to different high schools. They got a job together at the same hair salon and became fast friends again. Mia was then at Luke's eighteenth birthday party last year and that's where we first met. For a while we were just friends. But we were really close. She would stay at mine and vice versa. Eventually it got to the point where I asked her to go out with me. Like just us alone, to a restaurant I had picked out about two months ago for us to go to. Thankfully she said yes and for about two months we were just 'seeing each other' then I finally got up the nerve to ask her to be my girlfriend. And again she thankfully said yes. I almost screamed with excitement I was so happy she was mine.

"Sorry," Mia fake apologizes.

She stayed over last night, like she usually does. She doesn't really get on with her parents. Well, her mum is cool, they just fight a lot. Her dad is like mine, except he is in her life which is even worse sometimes. He is in her life but sometimes not. It just depends really on his mood or financial condition.

I didn't mind having Mia over, but I wanted to make that official now. I wanted to ask her to live with me. I didn't want to come across as pushy though. I get that she already does sorta live with me but I'm not going to make it feel like she either has to be helping me with rent if she is staying over, you know?

"Of course you are." I roll my eyes and see her smirk at me. She leans up and wraps her arms around my neck pulling me down to her level. She was shorter than me, a lot shorter. Our lips meet and I hug her body close to mine, wrapping my arms around her waist.

I open my mouth, making Mia do the same and feel our tongues connect. Mia puts the bottle of water down on the counter and I take that my signal to deepen the kiss even more. I hug her tighter to me and lean back, lifting her off her feet and feel her giggle against my lips. I smile back and put her back down. I move my hands down to just under her backside, just above her thighs and says, "Jump," Against her lips. She does as I say and wraps her legs around my middle. I begin to walk out of the little kitchen unit into the attached living room and I don't dare break our lips apart.
