Calum
I could tell Becca was nervous. She was cracking her fingers, and picking at her nail polish. That was something she only ever did if she was nervous. The two of us decided that we should go out for coffee or something and just discuss... everything. Becca also brought along Talia. The more I looked at her the more I could see she was defintiely mine. She looked like what I looked like when I was about two. That actually creeped me out a litte. It's like knowing that she is mine makes her look even more like me. I feel really stupid at not seeing it before.
"So we should probably talk." Becca says. We had been talking, obviously but not about what we wanted to talk about. I was talking to Michael before I left and he was saying I should definitely call her out on keeping Talia from me. I was planning on it but I had to be smart about it. I also might leave it until Talia isn't here. I know for a fact she doesn't know I'm her dad. I don't think she has ever noticed that I haven't been around. She is only two, she probably doesn't even care. But I care.
"Yeah," I sigh. "We should." I glance over at Talia who is playing with a little pink and blue teddy bear. I recognise it but have no idea how. It was probably Becca's and I saw it about her house.
"So..." Becca says awkwardly. "What first?"
"You can explain to me why you kept Talia from me." I say sharply.
Talia's head turns to look at me when I mention her name. "Cal." She says and points at me.
"Yeah, I'm Cal." I laugh slightly at her.
Talia then looks to Becca and pokes her arm. "Cal." She repeats to Becca, still pointing at me.
"Yeah, I know. That's Calum." Becca looks quickly at me and must see my annoyed expression. Becca doesn't speak again until Talia is preoccupied with her bear. "I was mad at you."
I scoff and lean back in my chair. "That isn't an excuse."
"I know." Becca says quietly.
"When are you going to tell her who I am?" I ask, peering over to Talia who isn't paying attention to anything I am saying. She wouldn't understand it anyway so I don't really care.
Becca shrugs. "What I'm I supposed to say?" Becca asks.
"This wouldn't be a problem if you hadn't have kept her from me in the first place." I shake my head.
Becca let's out a small fake laugh. "Would you have really stuck around?"
"Yeah," I say, extremely offended. "I would have, actually." Becca just rolls her eyes and continues to offend me. "I wouldn't do what Luke did."
"I didn't know that." Becca says quietly.
"You should have." I say back in the same quiet tone. I should've probably stopped talking after this point. "A year, Becca. Did that mean nothing to you?"
Becca's eyes widen and her jaw drops. I probably shouldn't have said that to her. "It meant a lot to me Calum." Becca says with small traces of anger. "It meant so much. Did it mean anything to you? Think before you answer that one."
"Most of it did." I admit to her. I don't like myself for what I did to her, but I couldn't say that I hated the fact I did it. I was happy in our relationship and Becca was always so great to me. Even after I would often going in tantrums with her and yell at her for stupid things. I remember our famous 'five months fight'. We had been dating for just over five months and I was getting pissed because I thought Becca was focusing more on school and grades than she was me. We were seventeen so we were both getting ready for University, or I should have been. I wasn't taking it seriously, of course. And Becca was and it just annoyed me because I felt like she was ignoring me and didn't care about me anymore. We got into a huge fight and didn't speak to each other for about two days until Becca came to me to apologize. Looking back on our relationship I realize Becca apologized for a lot of things she shouldn't have. I never once said sorry to her. The only time I ever apologized to her is when I told her I cheated on her. I wasn't even saying sorry for that. It was because when I walked into her room to tell her I knocked over a glass of water from her desk because my gym bag banged into it.
