Michael

I roughly shove open the hospital door and stop abruptly, making my body jolt forward slightly. I am finally seeing Luke, and it's not what I expect. I expected to him be in bed with stitches everywhere and every limb in a cast. Instead Luke is standing up and putting on his black jacket. Apart from the cast on his hand there isn't much that I can see which is really that wrong with him.

"Hey Mikey," Luke sighs when he sees me.

"Hey Mikey?" I repeat. "Hey Mikey?!" I say louder.

Luke stares at me like I've gone crazy. I probably seem crazy to him.

"What's wrong?" Luke asks me. And now he must be the crazy one.

"You know," I glare at him. "If you weren't just in a car crash I would probably beat you to death."

"Oh." Luke's eyes widen.

"Yeah, 'oh'." I mock him. I rush forward and pull him into a massive hug. It was the type of hug that Bella would refer to as one of my 'bear hugs'. "I hate you so much." I tell him.

"I'm okay." I can tell Luke is trying to pull away but I am not letting him go. He could've died. I could have lost my brother. I would have felt like it was all my fault, of course. God, I hate him.

"You're crazy, and I hate you," I tell him. "I'm never letting you leave the apartment again." I say angrily to him, finally letting him go.

Luke straightens out his jacket. "You are going to have to."

"No," I shake my head. "It's not happening."

"Well," Luke shrugs. "You need to tell my mum that."

"What?" Why did his mum care? If anything, Liz probably agreed with me more. The kid was obviously a danger to himself.

"I'm staying at hers." Luke says simply.

"Wait, what?" I say quickly. "When? Why? How? What?"

Luke sighs. "She found out about Karlie."

"You hadn't told her yet?" I glare at him and he just shrugs in response. "I hope she beats your ass. What did she say when you told her?" I ask.

"I didn't tell her," Luke rolls his eyes. "Ashton did."

"Of course Ashton did." I chuckle slightly. I wish I had been here before now so I could've seen that conversation. Knowing Ashton he probably just blurted our the news in front of Liz without actually thinking about how she would react. He also probably did it just to piss Luke off.

"So now I'm going home." Luke tells me.

"Wait, for how long?" I ask, suddenly concerned this might mean Luke will be gone. For good.

He just shrugs. "A couple days? A week? A month? Until my son is born? I don't know really."

"Oh," I raise my eyebrows. "So he is your son?" Luke nervously bites his lip. "When did that happen?" I ask genuinely wondering. "Was it when you had your near death experience or when mummy found out?"

"Neither." Luke replies.

"So when?"

"Well, he's always been my baby. I made him." Luke tells me. "So I guess he is my responsibility."

"Seriously bro," I say with a small smile. "What happened to you?" I laugh slightly.

"I guess..." Luke trails off and shakes his head. "I dunno."

"So are you moving out?" I ask him.

"Maybe," Luke tell me. It kind of sucked that Luke might be gone but I mean, it means a proper house for me, Bella and the baby, and if Luke is going to sort things out with Karlie then that means everyone is happy.

"I think you should move in with Karlie." I tell him.

"Yeah," Luke laughs awkwardly. "I don't see her letting me in her apartment ever again."

"She loves you." I tell him truthfully. "I know she still does. You being there for her now means she'll love you even more."

"You think?" Luke asks with doubt clear in his voice.

"I know." I tell him. "Trust me."

"I do trust you."

"Good."

"Can you call Karlie for me?" He asks. "Ashton told her he would call her if I woke up, but my mum appeared and things got crazy and Ashton just kind of left."

"Sure." I nod.

I bring out my phone and see a few messages from Bella. All about the wedding of course. I was going slightly insane from it all. She has just now decided she wants an engagement party. I don't think she understands we have next to no money. And any money we do have goes towards rent (which will increase for us if Luke moves out), groceries, the car, and saving go directly to the 'baby fund'. Why I decide having a baby and a wedding at the same time was a good idea I will never really know.

Karlie doesn't pick up her phone so I turn to Luke. "She isn't answering."

"Right." Luke furrows his eyebrows together. "I didn't want to just drop by unannounced." He tells me. "I'll go see her though."

For some reason I thought I was dreaming. I know, I know, it's a pretty weird thing to dream about, but seriously. I thought, this couldn't be Luke saying these things. There had to be some kind of catch. But it isn't Luke and there is no catch. He was really going to sort things out with Karlie. It was totally surreal.

"Luke," I say quietly.

"Yeah?" He runs a hand through his hair.

"I'm really proud of you." I smile at him and instantly Luke smiles back.

"Don't be proud of me yet." He says, shuffling awkwardly on his feet. "I need to get through the door first."

"She'll let you in." I tell him with total confidence. "I'll drive you."

"Thanks," Luke then casts his gaze away from me. "I don't think I'm going to be driving again for a long time."

"Do you know who hit you?" I ask him. I really wanted to find out who it was and make sure they can never walk again. That sounded really harsh, but I'm not going to sugar coat it.

"Not really," Luke shakes his head. "It happened too fast." He says. "One minute the light turns green at the crossroads the next I feel my head hitting off the glass and then..." Luke trails off. "Nothing."

"It wasn't your fault." I put a hand on his shoulder. "And you are okay. Those are the main things."

"Yeah," Luke chuckles slightly. "Tell that to Jack, it was his car."

"Yeah, why did you have Jack's car anyway?"

"Where did you think I was all night?" He answers my question with a question.

"You went to talk to him about being a dad right?"

Luke shrugs. "He had a baby pretty young too, I thought he might have some tips."

"What did he say about Karlie?" I ask.

"I just told him we had a pregnancy scare, not that she actually was." Luke then sighs. "But our whole family is going to know about it now. Fucking Ashton." He mumbles.

"Better now than in like, what? Four months when you are up to your knees diapers and baby bottles." I chuckle.

"And you won't be far behind me." Luke says back with a smirk.

"Yeah, I first have to make it through a wedding." I sigh.

"You will." Luke ruffles my hair and I swat his hand away. I didn't say he could touch my hair.

"Yeah, yeah," I roll my eyes. "Come on," I pat his back. "Let's get you to your family."
