This album was hyped up by the boys weeks before it's release and it had been anticipated for months before that. All the talk about how excited they were for it are why my expectations so high.

Over a year after the 2019 songs had run their course, The Good Times And The Bad Ones was released. Months of silence and it was here and has been for many months.

I have my fingers crossed, I really want this to be good. I want them to be good again.

At this point, I'm just torturing myself. Let's do this!

The Categories
Lyrics: The pacing, vocals, and the high note if there is one.

Substance: The song's ability to hold your attention, properly express its message or tell its story, the message/story itself, and the song's tendency to repeat itself.

Beat: Is it bloated? Do all the elements blend together?

Originality: Whether or not you can tell it apart from other songs of a similar theme, as well as how likely it is that you'll remember it.

Enjoyment: Is the song fun to listen to? Just because it's awful doesn't mean you can't enjoy it.

Video: Does it fit the song? Is it creative? Is it fun to watch?

The Grading System
Every star in one of the categories is worth one-fifth (.2) of a star for the final or overall score. This means a perfect score in any category will result in one complete star in the final score. Videos do not affect the final score.

1. Fallin'- 4/5
Lyrics: 4/5
Notes
The fact that the vocals match the words is amazing. Let me explain, Jonah's part sounds breathless and his lyrics are about being frozen in time and his heart racing and promises and confusion. It's like the war between his heart and his brain is physically exhausting him. Corbyn's part has a lot of passion in the way it's sung, fitting the picture of obsession and hunger that his lryics paint. Zach and Daniel's parts have this synchronization as well. I would have given it a perfect score, but I can't stand a bad high note and the one near the end was God awful

Substance: 5/5
Notes
Repeating itself is not a problem here and the lack of repetition means is holds your attention. As for the theme, personally I really enjoy the idea of saying fuck it and diving in headfirst. People tend to overthink things and a message of just going with the flow and seeing where the waves will take you is fun

Beat: 5/5
Notes
The bass of this beat reminds me of a pounding heart, which fits perfectly. The balance is great as well, a beat like this can easily overpower the vocals in terms of volume, so the fact that both are so clear is a huge plus

Originality: 1/5
Notes
It's a song about just giving into your emotions and diving head first off the cliff. My recent One Direcrion series leads me to immediately think of Kiss You and Live While We're Young. And the hyper, punchy beat is constant throughout all three

Enjoyment: 5/5
Notes
The beat is fantastic and the lyrics are catchy, a perfect song to just put on for the hell of it

Video: 0/5
Notes
This video not only has nothing to do with the song, but it actually ruins it. I mentioned before the volume balance between the vocals and the beat was impressive. In the video the beat is significantly quieter and I don't understand why. It only seems to he that way in YouTube and I'm confused. Regardless, besides the scene of Zach's jumping off, what looks like, a cell tower, nothing in this video relates to the song. So, unless I'm missing something huge, it's gets a 0
