These are the songs that I just couldn't find in an EP or album or they were released as a single.
For the Christmas songs specifically, they're here because 2/5 of the Christmas EP is covers and I don't review covers. These are in no particular order and let's just get into it so I can move on and do 8 Letters.
The Categories
Lyrics: The pacing, vocals, and the high note if there is one.Substance: The song's ability to hold your attention, properly express its message or tell its story, the message/story itself, and the song's tendency to repeat itself.
Beat: Is it bloated? Do all the elements blend together?
Originality: Whether or not you can tell it apart from other songs of a similar theme, as well as how likely it is that you'll remember it.
Enjoyment: Is the song fun to listen to? Just because it's awful doesn't mean you can't enjoy it.
Video: Does it fit the song? Is it creative? Is it fun to watch?
The Grading System
Every star in one of the categories is worth one-fifth (.2) of a star for the final or overall score. This means a perfect score in any category will result in one complete star in the final score. Videos do not affect the final score. These Girls- 2.2/5
Lyrics: 2/5
Notes
The vocal effects don't add anything to the song. Daniel's later part sounds nearly unrecognizableSubstance: 1/5
Notes
There is so much repetition. The chorus and pre-chorus are both really long with either super short verses or short verses that are dragged out for too long. That mixed with the boring message and generic beat make this whole song feel like it should've been 30 seconds shorterBeat: 2/5
Notes
It's a generic, boring beat that's both too bland and too cluttered at the same timeOriginality: 1/5
Notes
A song about not being able to pick a partner because there are just so many options with own unique perks? Hmm, never heard of thatEnjoyment: 5/5
Notes
It's a party song with a party beatVideo: 5/5
Notes
It feels like the video was made first and then a song was made to fit it because there is so much effort put into this thing and none of that shows in the song. Regardless, the video is perfect and the visuals are pretty funnyTrust Fund Baby- 3/5
Lyrics: 2/5
Notes
The pace is nice, especially during Corbyn's part, but the effects are minimal and not interestingSubstance: 2/5
Notes
It doesn't repeat itself at all really, definitely worthy of it's long run time. I don't like the idea that coming from money immediately means you can't be independent. Or that being a tom-boy, which is what they're describing, makes you more worthy or inherently more self-sufficient. So that brings the song down a lot for meBeat: 5/5
Notes
The beat is a lot of fun. The whole video and song have a high-school vibe to them and this feels like something the marching band could play during a gameOriginality: 1/5
Notes
There's a song called Miss Independent by Ne-Yo that has the same theme as this one. That one is more of an adult setting, using the world boss to describe the same girl that here is described as a not a "trust fund baby". They both put an emphasis on working for what you want and not having things handed to you and how only a girl like that can when their heart. The biggest difference is that Miss Independent doesn't try to paint people born with money as helpless
