The ground is so cold. His head is bleeding, his hands are still cuffed behind his back and his voice is raspy.
"Mr- Mr. Stark..." Peter splutters out, he sits up slowly, looking around the empty room. The camera is still flashing a red light in the corner.
The door opens, they obviously know he's awake. The kid gasps, using his feet to push himself closer to the wall. Only one person walks through the door, the woman from before. The one with the evil smile.
"Good morning."
Peter doesn't say anything, he's too afraid to speak.
"What's the matter? Have a nightmare?" She smirks, walking in and waving at the camera. "We're waiting on a call from your dearest dad, should reply soon if he actually loves you. You get to go home in one piece and we get nuclear weapons you wouldn't even believe in. I mean, it seems to me..."
"No."
"What?"
"He won't give you the codes. You won't win." Peter says, a fake braveness in his voice.
"It's like you want to die. That's cute, but you don't really believe that, do you?" She asks, kneeling down beside him again.
"You won't win. You won't." The kid glares at her, sitting up straight despite how much he wants to lay down and cry.
"Fuck it. I wanted an excuse to hurt you anyways." She smiles, standing up and leaving the room, closing the door behind her.
Shit. He was in deep shit. Why did he have to be brave? Peter starts to hyperventilate, he doesn't know what they'll do, but he knows it will be bad.
The door swings open, banging off the wall and startling the poor kid.
"You know..." She starts, bringing out a black item from her pocket, "Tony has made my life a lot harder than it needed to be. I would love to hurt him, but for now, you will do perfectly."
Before he can even process what's going on, pain like he's never felt before engulfs his entire body. He doesn't seem to realise that the scream that fills the room is coming from him.
And then it stops, all at once. Shocks still wrack his body as he writhes about on the floor.
"You are just adorable, aren't you?" She watches in content as Peter tries to sit back up. "You like that?" She asks, waving the object in front of him. "It's basically a taser, only it has ten times the power."
Peter's gasping, using the wall to steady himself and trying to stop the tears rolling down his face.
"You wanna go again or do you want to behave?" She asks sarcastically, aiming at him again.
"No...no..." Peter's voice is rough, his eyes pleading with her to stop this.
A loud crash comes from outside, the woman turns around quickly, the smile leaving her face immediately.
The Iron Man suit bursts through the wall, staring down the lady.
"Stay back, or I press this button and the boy gets electrocuted to death." She says calmly, holding her finger on the trigger.
"Drop it now or you die." Tony says, aiming his repulsers at her.
"I would rather die than go to jail." She replies, pressing the trigger and smiling. Tony shoots her, he didn't want to admit it, but he enjoyed it. The attention turns to Peter, he's screaming out again. It's like electricity in his veins, he can feel himself starting to black out, his head hitting off the floor with every shock. Tony rushes over to him, stepping out of the suit and grabbing him.
It starts to ease off again, just like before, but this time Tony's arms are wrapped around the kid's shaking body. Peter can barely breathe, but his body is starting to finally relax, his muscles still on fire.
"I'm here. I'm here, kid. I got you. I'm here." Tony whispers, holding the kid's head against his chest.
"Mr. Stark... Stop... make it stop..." He cries, the last of the shocks hitting him like a bullet.
"I got you, it's gonna stop. It's okay now." Tony assures him, wiping his own tears away with his sleeve. He holds him until he returns to himself, he's still crying, still shaking with fear.
"Thank you... thank... thank you..." He sobs, clinging onto him with everything he has.
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry." Tony says, cupping his face with his hands.
They both go back home, not much left to show for what happened to him. The faint outline of a handprint left on the kids neck. Morgan was perfectly fine, she'd never know what he went through just to protect her. To protect Tony from losing a child.
Peter didn't know, that if something had happened to him, Tony would've lost a child anyways. Peter is like a son to him. He always had been.
