Patrol time. Peter's favourite part of the day, school and homework both finished, he gets into his suit.
He's been out for three hours, but there's been nothing really going on. He walked an old lady across the road, found a missing credit card for a young woman and spent the rest of his time on call to Tony.
There was a scream in the distance, faint, but loud in Peters hypersensitive ears. He followed the noise to a back alley, three men were standing around a woman who was clutching her purse tightly in her shaking hands. She was asking them to leave her alone. The first thing Peter noticed was that none of the men had guns. That was a good sign. He swoops down and does what he normally does... make snarky comments.
"Hey! Anyone ever tell you that stealing is against the law?" He asks, grabbing the gang's attention immediately. They all turn to face him, except the woman, who runs away while they're distracted.
"The famous Spider-Man. Nice to meet you." One of them says with a smirk.
"Wanna come over and hang out?" Another says, earning laughs from the other two men.
"I would but I'm busy trying to lock you all up in prison." Peter smiles, walking towards them.
The first one runs at him, Peter dodges quickly, webbing him to the wall with ease.
"Get him!" One of the remaining ones shout as they both run at him.
Peter punches the taller one, jumping up and pushing him against the wall. He shoots his webs at him, but not before feeling a shooting pain in his side. He turns around and apprehends the last one, taking the knife from his hand. Peter's head is spinning, he grasps his wound and can feel the blood ooze from it. He shoots a web to the top of the wall, rushing to get somewhere he can lie down. The men shout stuff at him as he leaves but the words circle in his brain.
"Bye Spidey!"
"See you when you're dead!"He sits on top of the building, leaning back and realising that he's in shock. There's a ringing now, getting louder and louder until he sees Tony's name pop up on his phone. He's calling him. Peter presses the button.
"Hey, KAREN alerted me that your blood levels are rising. Everything alright?" He asks, clearly in the middle of doing stuff as the noise of metal being hit fills the background.
"I... Mr. Stark. I think I've been stabbed."
The noises through the phone stop.
"Where are you?" Tony asks nervously, heart pounding even more than Peter's.
"I don't know. It's bleeding, Mr. Stark. I think I... I think I'm dying." The kid says quietly, looking at his hands, he can't feel anything except adrenaline.
"No. No. It's okay. I have your location. I'm on my way to get you. Hold on, okay?"
"Scared. I'm scared. And tired."
"Keep your eyes open, kid. I'm coming. I'm two minutes away."
"Wanna sleep."
"No! Don't. Please. Stay awake just for a second." Tony's desperate, he's in his suit, going as fast as he can to get to him.
"Love... love you... I love you..."
"Don't you dare leave me, don't... kid I swear... please don't..."
He's met with silence, an emptiness filling his heart with dread.
And then Peter comes into view, he's lying down on the concrete roof, eyes rolling back. The blood is staining his suit and there's a puddle pooling together on the floor beside him. He's out cold. He doesn't even stop, just flies down and picks him up before flying straight back to the Tower.
He lands outside the top floor, walking in through the specially made door. He whispers under his breath over and over again. Little "pleases" and "no" repeated like prayers. Peter's been unconscious for a long time now, and Tony's too stressed to do anything other than hold him tight. His hands are shaking far too much to dress the wound. So he tells FRIDAY to contact anyone in the Tower who is either a doctor or a nurse.
Six people enter a minute later, four girls and two boys, medical professionals. They follow Tony quickly into the medical lab, letting him place Peter onto the bed in front of them.
Pepper gets there just as they put him under, he looks peaceful, but far too pale.
"Hurry. Please hurry. Save him." Tony stutters out, whole body trembling. His thoughts are terrible right now, 'What if he's punctured an organ? What if he dies?'
"Tony." Peppers voice brings him back to reality, only for him to taste salty tears in his mouth that had leaked from his cheeks.
He turns to face her, just as pale as the sleeping boy in front of them.
"We can leave. He's safe here. You're in a bad way." She whispers to him.
"No. No. He's... Look at him." He mumbles, pointing to the blood soaking through the sheets of the bed.
"Come on. Let's go." Pepper says, trying to lead him towards the door.
"No. No." He repeats, pushing through her grip and leaning over the boys body.
Tony's getting more hysterical by the second, he doesn't even realise when more people enter the room.
"Hey, Tones." Rhodey's voice utters quietly.
"The kid. The kid. He's hurt. He..." Tony turns to face him only to have his arm grabbed by his friend.
"Come on. You can't do anything now. We need you to calm down."
Tony's too scared and too tired to fight so he just cries and lets himself be dragged from the room and sat down on a sofa.
He falls asleep as soon as he rests his head, and a few hours go by.
Someone nudges him awake. Pepper. Tony jumps up far too fast and gets a light head, but he rushes into the lab anyways. Never had he ever been so relieved to see that kid sitting up and smiling at him.
"Hi." Peter says simply.
"Hi." Tony replies. He walks over to the bed and sits up beside him. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah. Are you?" Peter asks sympathetically.
"Yes of course. I'm not the one who got stabbed."
Everything works out okay.
And despite how much he wanted to talk to Tony about it, Peter never tells him that he heard everything that he had said while he was out cold. Never asks about why he had gotten so upset. Never knew just how much Tony loved him.
