Tony had undone the ropes on Peter's arms, but he doesn't have time to lean towards his mentor before the criminal grabs his wrists and tied them back down with ease.
The man who had hit Tony was standing above him, he lifted him up and placed him over his shoulder, waiting for someone else to bring in another chair.
"Let him go!" Peter yelled, panicking and gasping for breath as he watched his father figure in such a hopeless state. This was worse than the knife wound in his thigh, worse than him being alone here, worse than anything the kid had ever been through. He was so young when he lost his parents, and Ben, could barely remember what they were like anymore. This was new. A horrible type of new. Who knew what they would do to Tony? They could kill him in front of Peter, or could kill Peter in front of him. The kid couldn't decide which would be the most heartbreaking. A selfish part of him hoped they would let him die first just so he wouldn't have to watch Tony die. He just couldn't. The thought swirled in his head as he cried louder, shaking in the chair and keeping his eyes closed.
"Shut up!" Someone screamed at him, making him jump out of his skin. Peter looked up to see the man holding a phone to his ear.
"It fucking worked." He grinned with a proud look, "We got Stark."
The person on the phone replied, something about how they would be there in a few hours.
"What do we do with the kid?" He asked, staring down at Peter maliciously. There was a brief pause before he spoke again. "Got it, see you soon." He looked down at the kid and continued, "Seems it's your lucky day," he grins, "you get to live a little longer. We can use you to keep Stark obedient."
Peter looks to the floor with remorse in his eyes, he was the reason Tony was in this mess in the first place, and now he was the reason for Tony giving these assholes whatever they wanted. He would never resist if it meant the kid would be hurt for it.
"Stop. Don't touch him." Peter says as the man turns Tony's head side to side, checking to see if he's going to wake up now or later.
He ignores the kid and hums in content, "Stark's not waking any time soon."
"Okay, let's wait for him to get up somewhere else, this place is disgusting." The woman who stabbed Peter in the thigh says, turning her nose up.
And with that, the four leave, the other lady blowing a kiss at the kid before slamming the door shut. Peter groans with frustration, twisting his hands in the ropes to see if he can get free somehow. After a few minutes of struggling, he drops his head and gives up, tears pricking at his eyes. He's too afraid to call out for Tony, for anyone, so he just sits there. He's quiet and still for about twenty minutes before his mentor's head rolls to the side. "Fuck." He mumbles.
"Mr. Stark?" Peter whispers, "are you okay?"
As soon as he hears that voice, Tony snaps into protection mode.
"Hey kiddo, I'm okay. You alright?" He slurs, smiling weakly at the intern he's grown to love so much.
The boy just nods.
"I'm gonna get you out of here buddy, I promise. How's your leg?"
"It hurts." Peter replies quietly, "Mr. Stark... I'm so sorry."
"You didn't do anything wrong. This isn't on you." The man reassures him, "We're gonna be okay."
"They don't need me. They're just leaving me alive so you'll listen to them. They're gonna hurt me if you don't do what they say."
"That's not your fault, I need you to be brave. Someone is coming for us, we just have to wait it out." Tony says.
"What- What do you mean?"
"JARVIS knows I went to find you. They sent us the location of where I could get you after I dropped off the money. Someone will come for us soon. Maybe Nat or Steve, but someone will save us."
Peter sighs in relief, a smile appearing on his face for the first time in a while.
A few hours pass as they talk about things normally, like they weren't even in this situation. Comforting one another simply by being present. Until the door opens and a man's head peaks around.
"He's awake." He calls out to the others before walking in casually. "Morning."
Tony doesn't reply, just stares at him with an angry glint in his eyes.
"No need to be rude." The man rolls his eyes, as the other three people enter the room.
"What do you want?" The billionaire asks, "I gave you the money you asked for so let us go."
"Can't do that, Stark. The money from you is a big plus but that's not why we did this." A woman tells him.
"So why?"
"Because someone else will pay us a lot more. And, we get rid of you for good."
"I'll pay you more, just let the kid go." Tony says.
"It's not all about the money!" A man yells, making Peter flinch. "This world would be so much better off with you not in it. No more rich asshole with a God complex pretending to be a hero."
Tony glares at him, "Fuck you. You want me? You have me, so let the kid go."
"You don't get to make demands here, so be quiet and be good. He's on his way."
"Who?"
"Mr. Fisk."
Tony's face changes from stern to stoic fast enough for anyone to notice.
One of the men laughs, "You know him?"
"Yeah I do." The hero replies calmly, "I have people looking into him right now. He won't get away with this. I'll stop him."
The response gets an even bigger laugh, "He runs this city, Stark. I don't know what he's gonna do to you but I can guarantee you won't survive it."
"I'm gonna make sure that none of you ever see anything more than a jail cell for the rest of your lives." Tony threatens.
"Watch your fucking tone. Don't forget who's in charge here." A woman says, venom in her voice.
And Tony bites his tongue to stop himself from threatening her.
The sound of a door makes the villains turn and smile at each other. "Must be Mr. Fisk. He's early." He pauses and then continues. "Take the kid out back and get rid of him. No use to us anymore."
The other man grabs the back of Peter's chair and drags him towards the door as the kid twists and turns, tugging at the ropes.
"No! Please! Mr. Stark!" He cries out.
"Don't fucking touch him! Fucking stop!" Tony yells, he's struggling so hard that one of the chair arms starts to break. It's not enough though, he can't stop them as he watches Peter get pulled farther and farther away, until he passes the door and can no longer see him.
There's a thump from the corridor, the sound is followed by the sound of footsteps and a quiet cry from Peter.
Tony holds his breath, that is until he watches Steve and Bucky walk in. There's an immediate fight, it doesn't last long, the three criminals in the room with Tony are very quickly on the floor. Tony didn't care whether they were passed out or dead, he had one thought on his mind right now. As Steve starts to undo Tony's left arm from the binds, the billionaire rushes to free his legs. He jumps up, legs almost collapsing under him, but that doesn't stop him from running outside.
His heart drops when he sees Peter, head hanging down as he cries. The man who had pulled him out was on the floor.
Tony kneels down beside him, taking his face into his hands, but the kid panics, not realising that it's his father figure holding him.
"No! Please!"
"Hey, hey." Tony says softly, "It's me. It's just me."
Peter looks up at him and just cries harder. It takes a minute before he's unbound from the chair but as soon as it's done, he throws himself into Tony's arms.
The two embrace while the kid apologises over and over again. The hero tried to explain to him that he had done nothing wrong but it was hard to calm him down enough to help him understand.
Tony let's Steve and Bucky deal with the villains, he just takes Peter outside to the car and drives him back to the Tower.
After an hour in the medical lab, sewing up Peter's leg wound, they finally go downstairs to the living room.
They lie together, comforting each other until they fall asleep. The kid fell first, Tony purposely waited for him to before he closed his own eyes. He knew Peter needed him more than he needed Peter. But the main thing was that they were there together.I'm sorry I haven't been posting, I'm going to start writing more again. If I wrote a story with my own characters, would you read it?- Kaci
