They had left him there all night, Tony was left to cry himself to sleep in a puddle of his own tears. By the time morning came around, he was already up, trying to figure out a way to get those stupid chains off of him.
The door opens, startling him, even more so when two people he didn't recognise come in, followed closely by Steve. He was wearing his superhero costume, God he hated this.
"This is him." He says, closing the door and pulling the chains so that he's left suspended again, his feet barely touching the ground. Tony grunts and struggles but to no avail.
"The Great Tony Stark. Fury's told us about this one." One of the other men says, observing him as he kicks and fights. Why the hell would Fury tell them anything?
"Move. Let me see him." The man in the black suit pushes past the other one, he gets close enough to Tony, so close that he can feel his breath.
"This is some good work. What did you do to him?" He asks, inspecting Tony as if he's some sort of toy.
"He has a complicated relationship with this one," He says, pointing at himself, "he loves me. He'll do anything we ask." Steve let's out a laugh as he tells them. What was he talking about?
This one?
What did that mean?
"Steve, you don't gotta do this, you can let me out of here and things can go back to normal." But Tony's desperate voice is just met with silence.
"Please." Tony whispers.
"Wow. And he's supposed to be a genius? He really doesn't know." The one in the suit asks.
"I don't know what?" Tony snaps back at him, trying to figure out what's going on.
The man simply walks towards and then something crazy happens, he blinked, but it wasn't normal, it wasn't human. It was like he was a reptile.
"What the fuck?" Tony gasps quietly, flinching backwards. And then something even worse happens, the man begins to shift and change, within seconds he looks like a new person. Peter.
"Do you wanna go home and watch Star Wars, Mr. Stark?" He asks, he sounds just like him, he's basically his clone.
"What the fuck?" Tony repeats in a whisper, his hands are shaking.
He then changes again, this time to a green person, with pointy ears and inhuman eyes.
"What are you?"
"We are your worst nightmare." He replies, "We are Skrulls."

They had left him alone for a while, they'd given him food and let him go to the bathroom. He couldn't tell how many of these things there were, more than four at least. They knew things that it should've been impossible to know. They told him that they needed him to do something with 'human technology.'
By the time they come back in, Tony's feeling a bit better. He thanks God that the person who was torturing him wasn't really Steve. There were two of them this time, both green and scaly, like something from a movie.
"How are you?" One of them asks him, it has a clip book in one hand and a pen in the other.
"Well I'm not as ugly as you guys, so I'm pretty good." Tony snarks at them.
"Maybe we should've kept the charade going." The other one replies, walking towards him.
"Why the hell did you do that? You need me to make something for you, right? So why would you put me through that shitshow?" Tony asks, backing up as far as he can into the wall.
"Humans are different than our species. We do not feel things the same way you do. We have found that hurting humans emotionally is far more effective than physically." He says. "Once you are broken, you will do what we tell you to."
"Not a fucking chance, ET. Doesn't matter what you do to me, I won't do what you want."
The man begins to change, he's back to Peter's body in ten seconds.
"Mr. Stark? Why didn't you protect me? You let me die. How could you do that me? "He whispers. And, as much as he knows this isn't real, it hurts him. It really hurts.
So instead of making some comment back to them, he just spits as him, satisfied when he turns back into himself and wipes his face in disgust. "You can't fuck with me anymore."

The next twelve days go by fast, each one of them spent with an equal balance of hurting him and using his insecurities against him. They had turned into Howard, Peter, Steve, Clint, Nat. Everyone he cared about. The words stung, they always did. There was truth to them. But he didn't let them see that, so instead they just hit him, kicked him, cut him, until he fell to the floor. They'd leave him an hour and then come back in and repeat the process. Most times they would hurt him while looking like his family. That was the worst part.
