And another stupid day where everything goes wrong. Peter had lost count of how many times he had been either kidnapped or taken hostage by now. Sometimes it was because he was the superhero -"Spider-Man" but most times it was because he was Tony Stark's special "intern." This was one of those times. The only difference in this one and the other ones is that Tony was with him. They were in the Tower, just hanging out, watching "Die Hard" on the TV, when a group of criminals got off the elevator. Yep, Tony really needed better security. FRIDAY had been disabled and the lights had turned off just before they entered. Whoever was responsible for this knew what they were doing.
The group walked into the room, guns in their arms and masks on their faces, except for the man leading them. His face was uncovered, not worried about his identity, almost unfazed by the fact that Iron Man now knows who he is.
Before Tony and Peter can react, they're thrown back against the wall. How? They're not sure. The guns that they're carrying are all glowing a light purple, they remind Peter of something from Star Wars. He doesn't have much time to focus on it though, his head pounding from the impact made against the wall. Tony's out cold, the force of the blow to the head was too much for him. He's lying on the floor, blood dripping from the back of his head. Peter had super strength and heightened senses, so it makes sense to him that's he's still awake. He drags himself over to his father figure, using his body to shield Tony.
The worry that clouds his mind in those few seconds makes him almost wish that he was unconscious too. The men are walking towards them quickly, he doesn't have his web shooters, he's not armed, he has barely any strength left and Tony isn't even awake to help him. Peter can see their lips moving, although his brain can't process the words. They finally reach the two heroes, and another unknown weapon is brought into the kids sight. This one is an odd shape and a light blue glow surrounds it. They lift Tony's hands up over his head and suddenly the weapon is used to suspend his arms. It seems to be an invisible force pinning them to the wall, and then they approach Peter. The kid can't even squirm to get away, head aching and unable to move his limbs from weakness. His arms are stuck before he can even blink, the men seem to be talking to each other, but he still can't hear. His head drops down and he decides to give into the darkness, he can't cope without his mentor anyways. Maybe when he wakes up this will all be a bad dream, and Tony will be okay too.

Despite his wishes, when he woke up, Peter was still in this situation. He lifts his head tiredly, feeling a little bit better than before, but only now realising that there's a gag in his mouth that's tied at the back of his head.
"Let us go and no one gets hurt." Tony's voice snaps him back to the harsh reality.
"And how would you hurt us, Mr. Stark?" One of the men says, kneeling down beside him, so close that Tony can feel his breath on his face. He leans away as far as possible before taking a deep breath.
"You really think that the other people who live here, The Avengers, won't come back? You guys probably have around ten minutes." He spits back, knowing full well that the rest of his team won't be back until tomorrow at the earliest. And although it's a lie, the men seem to believe it.
"Ten minutes is all we need." Another man replies calmly.
"For what? You want money, is that it?"
"Nothing of the sort, Mr. Stark."
"Then what?"
"We want to watch the great Iron-Man beg for forgiveness." The man practically snarls at him before standing back up and straightening his suit.
"Why? What did I do this time?" Tony asks sarcastically, wary of the young child sitting next to him. He needs to keep their attention on himself, he has to protect his kid.
"You... what haven't you done is the real question. The weapons you've created have caused so much pain, you deserve some of it back." The voice is filled with venom and hatred. And then their sight is turned towards Peter, who, although barely audible, was clearly disagreeing with the men.
"Alright!" Tony says louder than before, "What does that have to do with the kid?"
"Nothing at all, it was just supposed to be you, but now we've got two people for the price of one." The man grins a horrible toothy grin, facing the young boy again. "I'll make you a deal..." He begins, he leans down and grips Peter's chin with his fingers, "If you can say Mr. Stark's name, I'll let you both go, if not, we hurt him."
Peter had thought that he had been through pain unimaginable, but this was so much worse, he couldn't stand this.
"Don't bring him into this. This has nothing to do with him!" Tony interrupts them, looking up to his captors with pleading eyes. He knows that Peter will blame himself for this, even though he's done nothing wrong.
"C'mon kid, let's hear it." The man smiles, still right beside his face.
And Peter tries, he tries so hard, but all that comes out is muffled noises. His eyes are beginning to water, and he struggles pointlessly, trying desperately to say the one word he needed to. But of course he couldn't. He didn't have a choice, he couldn't say anything at all.
"Good try, kid. But it seems like Stark has to suffer the consequences because of you." The man smirks, knowing full well that Peter will never forgive himself.
"Pete. This is not your fault. It's these assholes who are responsible, everything's gonna be okay. I'm gonna be okay. Close your eyes." Tony says softly, looking towards him and nodding, giving him permission to stop watching the horrors unfold.
Black. Darkness. The noise is really the only thing left to focus on, he won't open his eyes, not when he knows that Tony would never want him to. He can hear his mentors breathing, irregular and fast, he's scared. He tries to ask what's wrong, forgetting that no words can be heard. Tony had obviously heard him try to speak as he reassures him, "Keep your eyes closed, I'm alright."
"Sure about that, Stark?" Another voice says, "Let's see if you're alright when it's filled."
And then water is poured into something that sounds empty, maybe plastic. What were they doing?
"Remember Afghanistan? I remember. I could tell just how much you hated this, it was so much fun to watch. You're very entertaining. Weak, but entertaining. Seems like someone has a fear of drowning." The man sounds so smug and delighted it almost makes Peter feel sick.
There's scuffling, and the kid can tell that Tony is struggling, fighting back just like he always does. But he doesn't say anything, he won't give them the satisfaction.
"Silence, huh? Never thought the Tony Stark would bite his tongue and shut his mouth for once. Put him under."
And then there's a horrible choking noise, followed by a gasping breath and more choking.
"How are you feeling, Stark?"
"St... stop..." Tony says breathlessly, "please..."
This was hell, Peter had never heard his father figure beg, not once, never. And he couldn't even try and calm him down, that was the worst part, Peter couldn't scream or cry or shout at them to stop.
"Apologise." The man says, glee present in his voice.
"I'm sorry... please just let the kid go..."
"I think you can do better than that."
"Please let him go... please..." Tony says, coughing a little to clear his throat.
"I said apologise, not beg." The man speaks before the choking and the splash of water starts again. They hold Tony down longer this time, clearly angry at what he was saying, Peter can almost feel the breath leaving his lungs. He tries to yell at them to stop, still to no avail, he can't do anything. He still has his eyes closed, the darkness better than seeing what's actually happening.
They pull his head back out and he gasps, and then he gags, choking up the water trapped in his stomach. "I'm so sorry... for everything... I... just please... please stop..."
"That's better. Looks like someone's learning. That's..."
"Drop your weapons!" A familiar voice interrupts the sadistic man, as Peter opens his eyes. He looks to Tony first, his eyes are bloodshot, and the colour is drained from his face. And then his attention turns to Rhodey, who's standing in front of Pepper, Fury and a dozen other men.
The villains drop their futuristic guns, putting their hands up in surrender. Once the guns are down, Peter's hands are no longer suspended above his head, his arms drop wearily to his sides.
"Cuff them." Fury says nonchalantly, Rhodeys still in fighting stance, aiming his blasters at them, and Pepper runs to Tony's side.
"You alright?" She asks, worry clear on her face.
"Bit better now." Tony replies, turning his attention to the child beside him. "Hey, it's okay." He whispers softly, as Peter throws himself into his arms and starts to cry. Tony gently undoes the gag and sits it on the floor.
"I'm so sorry, Mr. Stark. I'm sorry, I-"
"Hey, don't do that. Look at me." Tony says quietly, putting gentle fingers through the kids hair. Peter looks up at him, his eyes watery and ready to cry again. Tony's smiling down at him, looking a bit better now that the villains had let go of him. "I'm okay."
And that's all that had to be said, both of them relax finally, holding each other tight as the men are walked into the elevator and away from them forever.
