First Task

ANNABELLE LUPIN-BLACK

"What do you want Theo?" I asked. "Why are you ignoring me?" he asked. I scoffed. "Is that a joke?" I asked. He looked at me and I rolled my eyes. "It wasn't your place to tell my dad." I said. "So I was just supposed to sit back and watch you be abused?" he asked. "It's not your business." I said. "It is." he said. "Tell me why you care." I said. He looked away.

"Tell me why you fucking care?!" I yelled. "Because I fucking care about you!" he yelled.

I stumbled back at his voice and he ran his hand through his brown hair. "I care about you ok? Is that what you want to hear?" he asked. "Why me?" I asked. He smiled and laughed to himself. "That's a good question. I've been asking myself that since the first day of school last year." he said. "Last year?" I asked. He nodded. "I saw you walk in and your teeth had straightened out and you weren't all lanky. It made me smile. But I was the evil Slytherin and you were the perfect Gryffindor." he said. "But I-" I started. "I know. Trust me, I tried to blow it off but I couldn't." he said. "Is that why you hated Edmund?" I asked. He shook his head. "I saw how that part treated you. That's why I hate him." he said. "How did you know? The first time, you said you know the signs." I said. He sighed and sat down. "Yeah." he said. I sat next to him and he looked at me. "My mum." he said. "But she's-" I started. "Dead, I know." he said. There was silence before he spoke again. "My father is just like Edmund. Only worse. Mum couldn't handle it. She drank herself to death." he said. My heart sank. "Theo, I'm-" I started. "It's fine. I don't care. Not everyone gets adopted by loving parents and lives happy ever after ok? I don't need to be happy." he snapped. I sat there in silence trying to think of what to say. But I had to go.

"Thank you Theo. For stopping him." I said. Then I walked out and headed for the task. I saw Hermione and Ginny walking and I ran to catch up to them. "Hey guys, I'm going to go talk to Harry. Save me a seat?" I said. They nodded and I headed for the tent. I walked in and saw Cedric. "Hey Cedric," I said. He walked over, smiling. "Hey Anna," he said. "Are you nervous?" I asked. He shrugged. "You can do it. I know you can. Your dad will be so proud when you win this." I said. He smirked. "Shouldn't you be giving Harry the pep talk?" he teased. "Yes, but he's not the only person I care about." I said. Cedric smiled. "By the way, do you think your friend Julia might know-" he said. I smiled. "Yes, she does." I said. His smile grew and I gave him a hug. Then I walked over to Harry. "Hey." I said. He nodded. "Hi." he said. "I don't know what to say so I'm just going to tell you I love you ok?" I said. He smiled. "I love you too Anna." I said.

I hugged him tightly then headed for the stands. I saw Ginny sitting with Ron, Julia, Alexa, Fred, and George. "Hey guys. Where's Mione?" I asked. "Went to see Harry again." Ron said. I nodded and sat down. "Hey Jules," I said. "What's up?" she asked. "Cedric asked about you." I said. She blushed as she smiled. "Really, what did he say?" she asked. "That's for me to know and you to find out." I said, smirking. "Ugh, you're the worst." she said. "You love me" I teased. "I'm so getting that money." I whispered to Alexa. She rolled her eyes. "We'll see." she said smugly. I pulled my coat tighter as the nerves grew. Just battle a dragon, Harry, it's easy.

When I heard the sound of the canon and Harry came out, my heart skipped a beat. Then there was the crash and roar of the dragon. "Bloody hell, that's a Hungarian Horntail." Ron said.
