He nodded and got off of me so I could get up and answer the phone. I found it strange since my phone was on silent and there was no home phone.
I walked into the kitchen and noticed my uncle's cell on the table. I sighed and picked it up. It was my dad. I answered it and put it up to my ear, quickly walking back to living room and sitting back down.
'ZELDRIS!?' He yelled across frantically. I sighed.
"Dad, it's me, Uncle Zeldris left his phone at home-"
"SHIT! Fuck! Okay...Melody since I have you on the phone and not Zel I need to to listen to me carefully.'
"Okay? What's wrong? Why are you so uptight? Has this got something to do with-" I asked, hearing him groan on the other side and sigh.
'Just shut up and fucking listen to me, Melody! This is serious! Your life is at risk!' He snapped as the sound of heavy papers being thrown onto a table could be heard in the background.'12 years ago I put a man in jail, he did something unspeakable, something I can never forgive. I hate him with every fiber of my being because he took something special from me...he was the one...who killed your mother.'
I dropped the phone and covered my mouth, standing up and running to the toilet to throw up; Helbram grabbing the phone and bolting after me. I ran into the bathroom and fell to my knees, throwing up the contents of my stomach into the toilet.
Helbram came in and sat beside me; holding my hair up and tying it into a bun with a rubber band he found on the sink so it wouldn't get in my face.
I could still hear my dad on the other side of the line asking if I was alright, Helbram told him I was fine and then passed it back to me so he could finish explaining.
"I'm back...sorry I just felt unwell, that's all." I bluntly lied.
'I know you're lying, but we'll discuss that late.'
"Okay." I replied simply.
'Anyway back to the story of the asshole in question, he was your mums ex boyfriend from high school, he was infatuated with her and she wanted anything but to be with him. One day she met me and we quickly became friends and started hanging out. Along the way we kinda fell in love. Then out of the blue Mael proposed to Elizabeth, but she straight up refused and dumped him on the spot, saying she had fallen for me and that they were through. He got mad, like really mad and decided to kidnap her, Zel and I eventually found were she was and beat the shit out of him. It's why we became detectives to begin with. Then after 6 years of hiding we finally got married and moved to another state, the one I'm in now. A year after that we had you and Eli. Eventually he found us when you two were four....taking the opportunity to shoot her at your birthday party and killing her instantly. I fell apart. And that's the whole story.'
I was speechless, I felt my throat tightening and tears threatening to fall. "Th-that fucking piece of shit!" I hissed and closed my eyes tight as the tears ran down my face. "I'll find him and slit his throat! I'm going to get revenge for what he did to her!...she didn't deserve to die like that! No one does! Except him!" My mark burning into my flesh. "I promise you this, Dad...that son of a bitch isn't going back to jail, he's going in the ground!"
