- Melody Pov -

I waited for 10 minutes until I decided to give up, disappointment and impatience written all over my face. I got up from the front step to walk back home, but stopped when I saw someone walking up the sidewalk.

Dark brown hair, yellow eyes and a tall frame. It was him. My heart skipped a beat as a lump formed in my throat.
He had his hands in his pockets and eyes at the ground. Not even looking where he was going, he kind of seemed sad.

"H-hey!" I yelled while waving to get his attention. His eyes snapped up and he looked straight into mine. A smile spread across his face and he waved back. I blushed and covered my face with embarrassment.

"Hey blondy? I see you've been waiting for me." He chuckled as he stopped right in front of me, his muscular build reminding me of how short I was, but I was still taller than my dad. "You know, you don't show up at a guys front door straight after you meet him." He said nonchalantly.

"I just wanted to say hi...ever since we talked last night all I can think about is you...a-and I know that seems weird but I really want to get to know you more. You seem cool and I want to hang out with you. Is that okay?" I blurted out while blushing and stammering. I had my eyes closed.
All of a sudden, I felt a soft hand touch the top of my head and I opened my eyes. I looked up at his face and he was grinned at me; a small blush on his face.

"You've also been on my mind lately, you've really made a good impression on me, blondy." He cooed and ruffled my hair. "Your too cute to forget."

I practically had steam coming out of my ears I was so red. "Th-thank you." I stammered.

"No problem, want to come with me to a party this weekend?"

I smirked through the blush. "Anything to piss off my uncle."

He laughed. "So it's a yes?"

"Hell yeah!" I smiled. It was Thursday so it wasn't that far away. "Saturday or Sunday?" I asked quietly.

"Saturday at 10pm, if you're not chicken." He teased.

"I literally go to sleep at 2."

"Then I'll flash a light into your room at 9:50, you'll sneak out to my front lawn and we'll go to the party together." He said plainly and handed me a piece of paper and a pencil. "I'll also need your number."

I took the paper and pencil and wrote down my number, then handed it back to him. He smiled and nodded. "You're a cool girl, Melody. I'll be looking forward to seeing you again."

"Same here."

On that very Saturday, I decided to make dinner for my uncle as to not seem suspicious. I was making my usual chicken carbonara and had gone out earlier to gather the ingredients while he was at work. (Zeldris is also a detective but works in a different precinct to Meliodas's old one)
I had just finished setting the table when I heard the door open and my uncle Zel entered the house.

"Melody! I'm back." He called out and walked into the kitchen, but was shocked when he saw that I had already made dinner.

"Yeah, I know...it's a rare sight." I chuckled and put a plate down for him and then went and sat down at my seat. "Feel free to have as much as you'd like."

- Time skip: after dinner -

"Thanks for dinner, Lody. It was great." Uncle Zel cooed with delight.

"No problem." I replied and pulled out my phone to check the time. It was 8:58. "It's getting late, I'm going to head up to bed." I said plainly as I stood up to leave.

"Why? You don't go to sleep till 2..."

I froze. "But I'm tired so I'm going to go to sleep." He was getting suspicious.

"Kay, but I need to go back to the office at 9:30 to do some work and I'll have to stay there the night, it's pretty bad." He sighed with disappointment.

"Okay, have fun." I said while trying to hide my joy.

I left and went upstairs to get changed for the party. "This is going to be great!" I whispered excitedly.
