Chapter 74: Why Does a Child Have Dynamite?

Hope sat down at the booth across from Bae as they waited for Emma and Henry to show up. "Do you think he is gonna go along with this? Storybrooke is the only home he has ever known," Bae asked.

"I think he will. I've known him his whole life. An adventure in a new land with his dad? He's gonna have so much fun," Hope told him.

The door opened and Henry and Emma walked in. "Hey buddy! Saved you a seat," Bae told him with a smile.

Emma nodded. "I'm gonna get a coffee." She walked off to the counter while Henry sat down next to Hope.

"Long time no see," She told him with a smile, putting her arm around his shoulder.

Ruby dropped off the sundae Bae ordered for him. "Here you go. One large sundae extra everything."

"Thanks Ruby," Bae replied, pushing it towards Henry.

"Extra everything?" Henry asked suspiciously. "You think I don't know a bribe when I see one?"

Hope laughed and told him, "I told you kid, Hen is too smart for that."

"Yeah yeah mom. That's obvious huh?" he asked Henry.

Henry smiled at his dad and asked, "So what do you want?"

Bae glanced at Emma and explained, "Well, your mom told me about what's been going on, and we thought that Storybrooke might not be the safest place for you right now. So I was thinking, why don't we go to New York?"

"New York?" Henry repeated surprised.

"Yeah Hen. It gives you some time to get to know your dad, keeps you out of harm's way, and Regina can't cast that curse if you're not in town," Hope agreed.

Bae nodded. "Yeah, mom's right. There is no magic in New York."

Henry nodded thinking, "Somebody should find a way to get rid of magic here. My mom wouldn't be able to cast the curse. My family wouldn't wanna kill her. It'd solve everything."

After a moment Bae said, "Yeah you know what? You're right. But until then, why don't you come with me?"

"What do you think?" Henry asked Hope.

She sighed and said, "I'm not gonna lie, I am gonna miss you so stinking much while you're off having cool adventures in New York. But I think it's where you're safest at the moment. I know Bae will take great care of you. I think you should go."

"Alright, I'll go." Henry nodded. "Just let me use the bathroom first." he said, sliding out of the booth.

Emma walked over with her coffee and asked, "How did it go?"

"Went good. He said yes," Bae said, putting on his scarf. "Yeah, he's in the bathroom right now just- I'm gonna go home and pack. Not bad for day three as a dad, if I do say so myself."

Hope laughed and Emma pointed to the booth, "Wait, where's his backpack?"

"Well, I don't know. He took it with him," Bae said with a shrug.

"To the bathroom?" Emma asked unhappily. "Did you really fall for that? He's your son."

A look of realization crossed Hope and Bae's faces. "He's running," Bae said, getting up.

"Damn it Henry. I'm gonna go check out his normal hiding spots," Hope said, sliding out of the booth.

Emma shook her head. "And what? Just guess where he is?"

Ruby walked over. "I can track him. Wouldn't be the first time I had to track someone down." Emma called David and updated him on what happened while Ruby followed Henry's sent to the mines.
