Ace and his group stood before the Sacred Dungeon outside the ruins of the Inera Kingdom. The entrance, smaller than the first dungeon Ace had explored, was sealed shut. As Ace approached, a magic symbol on his hand triggered a reaction, causing the door to open just as it had before.
Entering cautiously, they found themselves in a hallway illuminated by their presence. Magic crystals along the walls brightened as they proceeded. Ace and Darklin remained vigilant, activating their enhanced senses to scan for potential enemies ahead.
Glancing around, they found no immediate threats in sight.
"Let's head in deeper." Ace said as he took the lead.
Yuni followed behind, her gaze drawn to the walls adorned with intricate artworks that stretched along the hallway. Carvings depicted seven colourful dragons interacting with a group of people, their expressions and postures suggesting animated conversation. As they walked further, the artwork transitioned to a new scene.
In the subsequent scene, the dragons and the group of people appeared united, leading armies against a looming dark figure wielding a crackling ball of energy. Ace and Yuni stood side by side in quiet contemplation, absorbing the intricate details of the artwork
"You're asking a lot from me if this is the kind of manpower we need for Vumor," Ace commented wryly.
"I believe this is why you will be helping Yuni soon after," Darklin fired back, his tone confident.
Ace turned to Yuni, who smiled back at him. He scratched the back of his head nervously, adjusting his helmet.
"Let's continue. We can worry about those artworks later. I'll take point. Darklin, cover our rear. Yuni, I'm counting on you to watch my back with whatever you're capable of." Ace directed.
"Understood," Yuni replied, her voice steady.
Ace's footsteps echoed through the hallway, the silence punctuated only by their movement. As they approached the end, they encountered a fork in the path. Ace turned to Yuni, silently deferring to her for a decision.
"You're at the front. I'll let you decide," Yuni said.
After a moment's consideration, Ace chose the right path, only to find it was a dead end.
"Huh-"
Clonk, clonk, clonk!
Suddenly, gates emerged from the floor, separating Ace and Yuni. They turned, only to find metal Golems emerging from the opposite direction. These humanoid figures stood at 170 cm tall, their mana-filled visors glowing with hostility.
"Didn't expect this. The dungeon has us pinned," Ace commented.
"Then let us push forward," Darklin replied, steam rising from his nostrils.
"Will you be alright on your own, Yuni?" Ace asked, turning to her.
"I'll be okay. I can teleport through if necessary," Yuni assured him.
"Then let's take them down quickly," Ace said, readying his weapon.
Ace imbued his weapons with mana, effortlessly severing the golems' arms. Memories of Artes creating similar constructs enabled Ace to identify a weak point: the magic crystal embedded in the centre of each golem's chest. Its enormous size practically screamed vulnerability. Ace swiftly threw several throwing knives, each striking a crystal and deactivating the five golems instantly.
Meanwhile, Yuni efficiently decapitated the golems, moving with such speed and precision that they couldn't pinpoint her location. In five swift slashes, her side of the golems collapsed.
