Since it was still early for Ace and Yuni to begin the extraction of the Ineran people both of them found themselves in the central marketplace. The atmosphere felt rather gloomy as each passerby held dull and gloomy expressions.
Amid the passing crowd, Ace noticed a protester using magic to enhance the volume of his voice. Speaking out his speech with confidence and conviction, Ace joined the crowd to listen in.
"We should not remain silent of the terrible conditions the king has laid on us! His unnecessary notions of war have brought a great depression to our great kingdom. He must be stopped! The taxes he increased upon us, the news of our deceased soldiers, the terrible relations with the other kingdoms we must!-"
"Okay! Enough for that! You've caused enough ruckus these pass few days!" A knight in silver armour wrapped him with a golden magic rope cutting him off in the middle of his speech. The duo watched the knight drag the man out of the market place disappearing into the distance.
"Not much morale from the public order." Ace says looking around.
"It makes sense why there's people that side with Hal." Yuni commented.
Ace turned his head to a nearby wall noticing a wanted poster of him in his helmet. The details of the sketch were accurate but it was rather a dumb decision since Ace could just equip a new helmet. However, the poster had noted Darklin's appearance accompanying Ace.
For now, Ace is considered safe as they have yet to see his face, plus Darklin does not need to be with them all the time preventing any attention drawn to them. If Ace's identity gets exposed it'd be a big problem if Regis was to find out about his survival.
The pair continued to walk around the market exploring the various vendors and inspecting their wares. There were many things that the pair decided to buy, various metals and materials for Ace and tailoring materials for Yuni.
They continued browsing the area until Ace stared at a familiar building with a staging area in front of it. He was surprised to see that there wasn't a crowd waiting for an auction.
He quietly stared at the building until Yuni called out his name.
"Ace? You're staring into space."
"Sorry was just thinking of something."
"What is it?" Yuni tilted her head.
"If I ignored Cornwell that night. You'd be up there filling his pockets as everyone bids for your body."
"Yet, you saved me anyway."
"It was only in the moment. My body moved out on its own."
"Even still, you saved me that night."
Ace turned his head noticing an unmasked Yuni showing off her smile. His mask had hidden his frozen expression, and his eyes widened. Ace had seen her smile so many times yet there were moments when he'd simply be speechless.
He took a deep breath calming down before replying.
"Put your mask back up we still have to conceal our identities."
"Ah right."
As they continued to browse around the market Ace noticed a general store that he previously bought from. He took a glance at Yuni and then entered the store without telling her. She followed behind him wondering what he'd buy inside.
When she had followed him she was surprised to see that Ace had purchased bags of flour, sugar and many other ingredients that'd be used for baking. After his purchase, he placed the items in his magic inventory.
