Ace stared at Freya. He waited for her to start explaining about the Fallen that killed Olivia. It is one of the main reasons why Ace had come here in the first place. But now that he's here, he can finally hear how Olivia was killed.
"How did Olivia get killed? You're surrounded by allies aren't you."
Freya paused, remembering the day of Olivia's passing. She sighed and began explaining to Ace.
"There was a Fallen attack inside our fortress. But It was too chaotic for us to stay, so Olivia ordered us to go outside, where we were ambushed. Though worst comes to worst there was a Fallen who single-handedly wiped out Olivia's unit. The Fallen is a weapon master, and uses some sort of shadow clone ability."
Ace's eyes immediately widened upon hearing the last few words.
"What weapons did it use?"
"A variety, but the most threatening ones were his dual guns. Both of them are like revolvers. It would also switch up its fighting style to adapt to the situation, from a pair of daggers to a long sword. It had a wristbow, and it must've used a relic. It was a group of floating blades.
Ace went quiet after hearing some of the details. Freya noticed this but assumed he was listening intently and continued.
"Even with everyone outnumbering him and our best efforts, we couldn't defeat it. Glenn managed to disarm the Fallen temporarily, yet Ryu lost to it in hand-to-hand combat. It's crazy Ryu said he used your moves. You know, your martial arts style..."
Freya slowly drifted off at the last sentence, noticing that they had a commonality. She pieced the connection between Ace's replication of her art and how Ryu quoted that the Fallen did have Ace's incorporations to its techniques.
"Ace...?" Freya turned in Ace's direction, who had gone quiet for quite some time. "Why did you go quiet...? I mean, I do know you have a keen eye for replicating techniques as your own and that you do know martial arts. Especially when Ryu mentioned..." She began to sound hesitant, just piecing together one commonality.
"...If this Fallen was so strong, how did Aria survive...? I bet it was just a blade away from killing her." Ace finally spoke, trying to piece together the info on this Fallen.
"Right... There was a demonic voice I'm pretty sure it was Vumor. He said that the vessel the same one that killed Olivia disobeyed his commands. That's how Aria survived."
"...Luna hesistated when Vumor had her body ready to kill me... the only reason why the Fallen might hesistate to kill Aria is..."
Freya looked closely at Ace in shock. She then grabbed her hand onto Ace's, holding it tightly.
"No! Don't say that! You're finally back and you're indicating that the same Fallen might be you?!"
"There are other timelines that have defeated Vumor. It's no surprise that I may have died in others. I can die at any time at any moment." Ace said as if he had accepted his fate.
"Come on, i-it must be a coincidence. It's not like you can use the exact same weapons and abilities it has."
"...Freya I have a gun and wristbow in my inventory. I know how to use these shadow clones you've mentioned. That Fallen, it has to be a dead me from another timeline."
"Even Caspar would think you're crazy... timelines? What? We're in some alternate timeline where something small created a branch to somewhere else? That kind of timeline?"
"..."
With no reply from Ace, Freya couldn't help but be surprised.
"Holy shit you're serious."
