Chaos suddenly erupted throughout the fortress. Whenever an Allied soldier fell, a shadowy figure would appear to raise their body as a Fallen enemy. The Creles soldiers soon realized that only a select few of the Fallen had the ability to resurrect others, marking them as their primary targets.
"They're everywhere!" Thoma shouted, slashing away the Fallen with his spellsword.
"Everyone stick together! We'll run out the back of the fortress. There should be fewer Fallen there." Olivia shouted, giving her orders.
ria stood at the front with her friends, fending off as many of the Fallen as possible. Though they had numbers on their side, they watched helplessly as their fallen comrades were resurrected to fight for the enemy. The reanimated foes showed no concern for fatigue, relentlessly slashing away with wide openings in their stances.
"[Holy Javelin!]"
"[Offensive Art: Sacred Blade!]"
"[Defensive Art: Holy Guard!]"
"Our Holy Arts and Magic are effective against them! We can win this!" a Holy Knight shouted, brandishing his sword toward the enemy. "In light, we fight for the Empire!"
Everyone around Aria's unit battle cried, increasing their own morale. However, Fallen Holy Knights appeared just behind their unit, killing several allies from their backline.
"Damn it...!" Olivia exclaimed, watching several from her unit die.
"Shit! They're trying to break through to Olivia's unit!" A familiar voice called out. Aria recognised the knight seeing Dave once again but in a difficult situation. Dave and several made their blades clash against the Fallen but watched many more ignore him. The Fallen had their sights set on a specific person.
"[Unique Art: Sacred Conflict]! You're not getting through us!" Dave summoned a wall of holy spears around his unit, and the majority of Fallen chased after Olivia's unit. "Get the Heroes out of here Olivia! We'll hold these ones off!"
"I owe you one!" Olivia shouted back. "Everyone push for the gates! We'll focus on our safety and protection of the Heroes with us."
"Of course!" Elaina responded.
"We're almost out of the chaos!" Vella shouted in relief.
Olivia's unit broke through the stray Fallen that blocked their way towards the gate, eventually going outside the walls.
Freya kept her guard watching the flank and noticed that some of the Fallen made it out towards their direction. It took one look at Aria and immediately their eyes glowed locking on to her.
'As we expected they are targeting Aria. But we have the upperhand. They only have one entry point towards us.'
Freya charged her shots in an attempt to shoot down any pursuer. However, some of the Fallen were Paladins who retained their defensive capabilities. She was forced to use a [Magnum Shot] an Art used for penetration killing a single Fallen in the process.
"Tch..! There's still more." Freya said in annoyance.
"Captain Olivia, permission for us to engage the enemy." A Paladin spoke up to her.
"Granted, keep a safe distance all of you. We'll be on guard to-"
Whoosh!
Something had just zoomed past Olivia who just in time tilted her head to dodge the unknown projectile.
Aria watched Olivia almost die right in front of her, she snapped her head to where the arrow came from noticing a group of Fallen equipped with various weaponry. One of them had their arm out, Aria noticed that they had a wristbow on their arm. Some of them hid on top of the trees while others emerged from the shadows.
