After several days of travel, Aria and her friends finally arrived at their destination: a fortress near the border of the Creles Kingdom. The fortress loomed high, its walls seemingly endless from the ground. Around the fortress, various campsites were scattered, with soldiers standing by, ready for potential battle.

Aria disembarked from the carriage and stretched her entire body, relieved to be on solid ground again. Her friends followed suit, and soon after, the other assigned Heroes began to gather around them.

"We're finally here..." Aria said, gazing up at the fortified walls of the fortress.

The fortress featured gaps for archers and mages to shoot through, with ballistae and mage towers strategically placed along the walls.

"Ugh, that ride was so long." Vella stretched her back, rejoining Aria's group.

"Yeah, it was. I'm glad to see you all again," Freya responded with a faint smile.

"Aye! Good to see you guys again," Ryu exclaimed, wrapping his arm around Caspar with an enthusiastic grin.

"...Yeah, good to see you too, Ryu. Let go... your arm is too strong..." Caspar gasped for air.

"So it's eight of us from the class with Olivia's unit. It's going to feel weird not having the bigger half with us." Marcia commented.

"I want to see Warren, but he's probably at the front somewhere with Ancel." Vella held a sad expression as she looked around her surroundings.

"Can't believe we haven't seen them since these last few days." Glenn added.

"It's cause they had a head start. They're probably assigned somewhere here already." Hilda says gazing around.

"Hilda's right they've arrived much earlier but don't worry, you'll have time to meet the rest of your friends. For now, you guys have assigned rooms in the fortress. Girls are in a room together next to the guys. My room will be at the end of the hallway I believe." Olivia explained.

Aria quietly observed the soldiers stationed around the fortress. She watched as some gathered around a campfire, others ran drills, and a few sparred with each other. She then glanced at her friends, her expression empty.

We're not supposed to be here in the first place, she thought. Hilda and Caspar aren't their usual lively selves, and everyone else is barely holding in their concerns. Not only that... but this Vumor.

"You need some rest if you're going to stare like that," Olivia gently nudged her. "You'll get to sleep on a proper bed tonight."

"Okay," Aria replied softly.

The group made their way toward the fortress. As they approached, a large metal gate slowly opened, revealing a pathway leading to numerous buildings within. Each building served a distinct military purpose, from armories to supply depots, and even a dedicated blacksmith. The base was designed to withstand prolonged battles.

"Follow me. Just so you know, the dorm building isn't as luxurious as the one in the Kingdom," Olivia said.

Aria's group chatted amongst themselves, discussing the dorm building. However, Aria tuned out the chatter, lost in her thoughts about the looming future and King Regis' plan.

"You've been awfully quiet for a while, Aria," Freya said, slowing down to match Aria's pace at the back.

"I don't really have much to say," Aria responded.

"Makes sense. We're going to face actual combat soon. And worst-case scenario, our class might lose more people," Freya said coldly.

"And Caspar's theory on Ace's death. Even if we miraculously survive this war how would this Dark God attack us again? And can we actually beat it?"
