Chapter 62: Her Power

"ACE!" Yuni cried his name out.

The sight of his dying body had caused the magic in her body to surge. Her eyes began to glow bright pink, and the ones to direct her anger were the enemies in front of him.

"You two, run. I'll handle this one." Oton said to his men.

"B-but sir! We can still-"

"It's fine. You'll die if you stay."

The two holy knights respected their Commander's wishes and left the area. They were leaving just Yuni and Oton together in a face-off.

"So you and this Ace have been hitting our markets?" Oton asked as he pointed at Ace's lying body.

Yuni simply stared at Oton in response. Her eyes beaming with rage, she imbued her longsword with magic taking a stance. She held her blade behind her while her other hand carried a silver flame waiting to be unleashed.

"It is commendable you take such risk to save your people. Unfortunately, we stand on opposite sides. King Regis has trusted me to watch over this Kingdom in his absence. And I'm not taking any prisoners today." Oton slammed the handle of his Halberd to the ground imbuing his weapons in mana.

Yuni dashed from side to side, making Oton lose sight of her quick moments. She threw her silver flame toward him and ignited the spell [Crystal Burst]. The projectile exploded before him, barely leaving a scratch on his defences.

Oton charged forward, swinging his Halberd sidewards, catching Yuni off guard. She held out her arm, summoning a magic circle to block the attack in response. Her magic circle shatter after one single attack demonstrating Oton's great strength.

Yuni's blade shined brightly, letting out a wave of attacks that were merely deflected from Oton's powerful shield. Noticing her futile efforts, she poured even more mana for her next ability.

Oton saw the attack before him. He understood the properties of her attack and simply counterattacked with his weapon.

CLANG!

Their weapons clashed to the point that a strong wind wave was created, blowing Yuni's hood out and exposing her silver hair. Before she could slide her blade out of Oton's weapon, her body felt a direct attack pushing her back next to Ace's body.

"Unnngh...!"

Yuni had received a shield bash to her stomach, struggling to stand up. She noticed Ace beside her, who was still breathing. He held his pistol in his hand, indicating to Yuni that he'll jump in the middle of the fight.

"A valiant effort, but I'm afraid your struggle ends here." Oton slowly walked towards them, holding his weapon in the pair's direction. "[Holy Spears]"

Multiple spears of light appeared beside Oton, directly aiming for Yuni. She looked at Ace and gritted her teeth. She stood before him, summoning a giant magic circle to block the barrage. Each spear was powerful enough to chip away at her defences, cracking down her magic shield.

"...[Defensive Art: Draconic Guard]"

Ace had appeared right beside her, holding out his shield. Just as Yuni's defences were broken through now, aiming at the new barrier Ace had put up around them.

"Ace...! You shouldn't get up!" Yuni shouted in concern.

"It's fine... I'll hold him out... just run..." Ace was struggling to convey his words. He was already breathing heavily, and his wounds had yet to recover from regeneration.
