-The Following Day-

Ace stirred awake, his consciousness returning before anyone else in the room. As he attempted to rise from the bed, he found his arm ensnared by Yuni's grip. She lay beside him, still lost in slumber, her face contorted with distress as silent tears trickled down her cheeks.

"You can't die... Ace..." she whimpered.

Ace's eyebrows furrowed in confusion. 'This is new.'

His pulse quickened as he processed Yuni's words. The combination of his name and "die" in the same breath sent a chill down his spine. He tried to gently free himself from her grasp, but Yuni only clung tighter.

"Why...?" she cried out, her voice laden with anguish.

Slowly, Yuni's eyes fluttered open, immediately locking onto Ace's worried expression.

"Morning," Ace said softly, attempting a smile. "Or should I say good afternoon?"

Yuni's eyes widened in realization. "Oh!" She hastily released his arm, her cheeks flushing. "I'm so sorry. I keep doing this, don't I? Wrapping myself around you while we sleep."

"It's alright. But you looked distressed in your sleep. Is everything okay?"

Yuni's gaze dropped, her fingers fidgeting with the bedsheet. "I've been having these... incredibly vivid dreams lately. I thought they'd stop after Cornwell and Lenny were gone, but they haven't. They're all different, and yet they share one terrifying similarity."

Ace swallowed hard, a knot forming in his stomach. "...Did I die in the previous ones too?" he asked, with a faint shake in his voice.

Yuni's eyes snapped up to meet his, filled with a mix of shock and concern. Her reaction was all the confirmation Ace needed. He looked away, exhaling deeply as the weight of this revelation settled upon him.

"I see..." Ace's brow creased.

Yuni's eyes gleamed with determination. "You're not going to die, Ace. I won't let it happen."

Ace sighed with a subtle tremor in his voice. "There's always a chance I will."

Noticing the quiver in his tone, Yuni softened her expression, offering her usual warm smile. "You won't. I won't allow it."

"It's not like I'm asking to die," Ace countered. "I'll do my best to survive every scenario."

Yuni's face brightened at his words. "Then that's enough for me to stop worrying." She chuckled lightly, changing the subject. "Why don't we grab something to eat?"

Calmed by her soothing tone, Ace managed a small smile. "Alright. I'll do a quick check on Darklin first, see if he's showing any signs of waking up."

Ace turned to his right, where Darklin lay motionless in the makeshift bed. Despite their conversation, he remained in deep slumber. Ace crouched down to examine his condition . He felt confident Darklin would wake soon.

"He'll wake up soon," Ace stood up. "But it won't be today or tomorrow."

Yuni leaned in "Has this happened before?"

Ace shook his head. "No, it's the first time he's been knocked out like this. Don't worry, though. I'm sure he'll be fine. In the meantime, I'll try to hunt something for us to eat."

"If that's the case," Yuni said, a playful glint in her eye, "I want something heavy. Eating fruit all the time isn't enough."

Ace scratched his head. "Quite a demand... I'll try my best."

As he turned to leave, Ace found himself glancing back at Yuni. Their eyes met, and she offered a warm smile once more.

"Take care, Ace."
