The only thing Ace could hear was his heavy breathing. He was alone, surrounded by countless Fallen soldiers with armour that he could not recognise. They weren't Creles soldiers, Cromor soldiers, or any from the participating Kingdoms.
'These things, they're just moving pieces of armour. I'll just imbue more mana into my weapons than before.'
It was the inner thoughts Ace was hearing, but at the same time, something was off. Ace had already switched out some of his equipment for his own. Though he was donning the Holy Knight chest plate, he threw out the gauntlets that had come with the set for his own. Despite this, he's continuing to use his Arts rather than his magical abilities.
Every time Ace moved closer to a specific location, the Fallen would follow in an attempt to stop his momentum. Moving forward, Ace swapped his dagger for his pistol, shooting enemies to give him the slightest opening to slip out. Not wanting to waste time, he used [Quick Step] to increase his speed, outmanoeuvring the slower Fallen grunts. However, there are times when stronger enemies appear before him.
'Isn't it faster if I use my flames? Did I run out of mana potions in this war? Wait... did I even use potions? or magic at all in this operation?'
VUL! VUL! VUL!
Ace kept shooting the Fallen down as he continued running.
"Damn it! I can't waste any time with you!" Ace shouted angrily. "[Ultima Art: Shadow Parade]!" three shadows appeared from Ace's body, all mimicking his appearance and equipment. The shadows themselves had also mimicked the function of Ace's pistol providing covering fire as Ace began charging forward.
With the living shadows by his side, Ace made quicker progress moving forward, but the more he fought off the Fallen, the more confused he'd become.
'I don't recall being this proficient with my shadow abilities, and why can't I recall anything before this fight?'
"Quit getting in my way! [Unique Art: Shadowing Assault]!"
In a blink of an eye, Ace defeated twenty Fallen instantly, causing a strain on his mind. The situation was becoming more concerning, Ace was more tired than usual, but he couldn't back out now.
"I have to get to her...! I can't stop now...!"
Fallen after Fallen, Ace's heart suddenly ached to stop him in his tracks. The sharp pain had caused him to almost fall to the ground. The living shadows by his side quickly went to his side until he recovered. With the opening his shadows gave him, he promptly drank a stamina potion and continued on his way.
'That's my last one. If I have to, I'll sacrifice my memories again.'
Ace moved faster than ever, feeling the energy boost, yet his body felt like it was moving on its own throughout this entire fight. Every strike he made was fueled by adrenaline with one goal in mind.
After waves of Fallen came after him, the enemies suddenly stopped their pursuit of Ace.
He still couldn't catch his breath as he finally reached his destination, where there was no sign of any Fallen presence. Ace focused on a magic dome that seemed invisible to most people, but it hid away those who stayed inside it.
Yet this sense of danger still lingered upon looking at the dome. Ace kept his guard up as he ventured deeper inside; around him were puddles of blood and bodies from different kingdoms. From a distance, Ace noticed another single figure.
Ace's mouth dropped as his entire body felt like it had sunk. His body felt weak, yet his eyes widened at the sight of a familiar girl. Her arm was separated from her a few centimetres away, whilst her body was in a pool of blood gushed out from her arm.
