Ace prepared to teleport back to the Creles Kingdom. He made sure his automaton knight knew to protect Darklin if anything happened. Quickly, he added a communication device to the knight's helmet for direct contact. For himself, Ace made a silver ear cuff with a small gem, allowing him to send thoughts to the knight.
Ace and Yuni packed their usual gear and used Ace's teleportation crystal. They vanished in a flash. The crystal turned dull, showing it needed time to recharge. They appeared in a familiar place.
They knocked on a house door, waiting. An eye-patched man opened it, smiling knowingly.
"Come on in freeloaders," Razor said.
"Thanks," Ace replied as they entered.
Razor looked around, confused. "What happened to your dragon?" he asked.
"He's in a deep slumber. Right now he's resting back at the Kingdom," Ace answered.
"Sounds like an eventful few days. It's already late, so make yourselves at home. Elora will be back shortly."
Yuni turned to Ace. "...Ace you haven't explained anything to me. What's going to happen?"
Ace had kept quiet since Hal contacted him. He thought the details weren't too complicated, but decided to explain anyway.
"We'll meet up with Hal tomorrow to discuss some things. It's easier to teleport here now than later since the stones require a cooldown and your spells take a toll on you. If anything happens tomorrow we can leave the scene immediately," Ace explained.
"Understood," Yuni replied with a small salute.
Soon after, the door opened. Elora walked in, looking human and wearing a cloak. She had used magic to hide her fox features. Once inside, she changed back to her demi-human form.
"Ah welcome back! Your majesty! Ace! It's good to see you two home!" Elora said excitedly.
"Sorry for intruding." Yuni replied with a bow.
"We don't live here you know?" Ace reminded Elora.
"Well... this house will be kinda pointless when we move to the Ineran kingdom, right Razor?" Elora turned to her husband.
"I guess that's true," Razor agreed.
"Huh?" Ace reacted, surprised.
"What do you mean?" Yuni tilted her head.
Elora grinned at them as if saying "Isn't it obvious?" But this only confused them more.
Razor sighed. "What Elora's trying to say is, we're moving to the Ineran kingdom after this operation. We've volunteered to help get it back in shape."
Ace frowned, suddenly remembering the state of Yuni's kingdom. He'd forgotten about the lack of supplies they'd need for rescuees.
As if reading Ace's mind, Razor said, "Don't worry. Hal's prepared enough supplies to rebuild the kingdom. He even managed to relocate the slaves from our neighborhood."
"Ah, no wonder the neighborhood seemed emptier than usual," Yuni commented.
"So what's going to happen to you?" Ace asked. "You're a well-known adventurer around here."
"I'll have to come back sometimes to run errands for Hal. This house will be a base when I can't teleport back," Razor explained.
Elora chimed in, "And Razor's rich. No one will care if he disappears from the adventuring world. They'll just think he retired."
"Haha, she's right," Razor chuckled. His tone then turned serious. "But let's get down to business. Any updates from your end? We have some big news to share with you."
