Sunrise (Todoroki x Reader)

Chapter 5 - One on One

"STAAAAARRRT!!" boomed All Might.

Todoroki wasted no time and launched a massive barricade of ice in y/n's direction. Y/n propelled herself using the wind force of sand she blasted from her hands and just barley dodged the ice. 

He gave her no time to think and launched another line of ice where she landed, forcing y/n to propel herself out of the way again. Y/n gritted her teeth. An ice quirk, huh? 

Woah...! The sheer amount of ice he's making without stopping is... amazing!

She continued to dodge as Todoroki launched attack after attack. Eventually, she realised that by now, nearly the whole platform was covered in ice. If she landed on it, Todoroki could easily freeze her or use the ice to push her out of bounds. 

Y/n launched herself up into the air, this time using the sand-induced wind force from the dead skin cells on her legs to allow her to stay in the air, as if she had sand jetpacks on her legs. 

She heard faint sounds of her classmates cheering on the battle in the background. Todoroki looked up at her, an expression of slight surprise crossing his face for a second. 

Y/n took a deep breath in and pulled her arms inward, a strong bubble of air forming in between them. She yelled a battle cry as she released a concentration of her quirk; a high speed sand storm heading right for Todoroki. Just before he disappeared behind the sandstorm, y/n saw Todoroki put up an ice wall to protect himself. 

As the sand cloud started to fade, y/n began to feel the skin on her arms tear. She took the opportunity to lower herself down onto an un-iced spot on the platform, taking a couple of moments to breathe as she scanned the area for Todoroki. 

Aw crap, my skin...

Y/n needed to pause using her quirk for a moment; she'd used too many dead skin cells on her arms at once and now her healthy skin was being torn. 

She would probably have to move soon; this spot was very close to being out of bounds. The temperature had dropped. The ground had also turned into an icy landscape, giving Todoroki a number of possible hiding spots-

Suddenly, a y/n saw a figure a short distance away over her shoulder. Todoroki appeared out from behind a tall shard of ice, running very fast in y/n's direction. She quickly crouched down and slammed her palms to the ground. Suddenly y/n went pale with shock. 

"The ground! It's hard concrete! I can't summon any cactuses or roots!! I didn't notice before?! Shit, how could I make such a stupid mistake?!"

Todoroki was a only couple of metres away, and y/n was crouching down and had her back to him. 

Y/n fumed as she realised that had fallen right into his trap. As he was about to grab her, y/n whipped her hand behind her back and gripped the white patch at the back of her costume.

"Did you know," she puffed, as Todoroki closed in on her, "that there are a lot of dead skin cells on people's backs?" 

Y/n ripped the white patch off to reveal a large circle skin on her lower back. She blasted a monstrous force of sand in Todoroki's direction, stunning him as he disappeared behind a stream of sand. Y/n gripped the ground hard and yelled out as she poured her all into her back.

Come on...! Plus...Ultra...!

Y/n gasped for air as she stopped the geyser of sand from her back, which was felt like it was on fire. She scrambled to her feet, her whole body shaking as the sand cloud cleared, expecting to find Todoroki far off bounds.
