Chapter 46

Alec POV:
"I should probably get home. My mom is probably going to ground me for missing curfew..." I say standing up. I kiss Chase forehead. "I love you. Please get better, I need you Chase. "I whisper so her family can't here.
Charlie stands, "I'll walk you out."
Queen America stands and hugs me, "thank you, Alec, for being there for her."
"Um, yeah no, um, problem. I would do anything for her." I stutter.
Charlie leads me from the hospital and to the back door of the castle. "Bye Alec." She says hugging me.
"Bye," I say hugging her back. "I'm going to tell my mom tonight, about Chase and I."
She pulls back, "I think that's s good idea."
"I'll be back after breakfast, that okay?"
"That's great." She says.
When I get home it's past midnight. "Alexander Kyle! Where have you been!" Mom exclaims. "I called Jack and Erin they said that they couldn't tell me where you were! I'm your mother! I need to know where you are."
"Mom, I need-"
"You are grounded! 2 weeks!" She yells.
"Mom, I need to tell you something." I say looking down.
She places a hand on my shoulder, "what's wrong?"
"We should probably sit down..." I say.
We sit on the couch. "Alexander you're scaring me."
"Okay. I'm seeing someone."
She slaps me on my head. "Don't scare me like that! What's her name?"
"Her name is Chase..." I say.
"Chase?" She starts laughing, "you're hilarious Alec. You're not dating the princess. Who are you dating?"
I pulled out my wallet and pulled out the picture of us. "The Princess."
She studies the picture, "Alec this isn't funny anymore. Who is this?"
"That is Chase Schreave. My girlfriend..."
She sits there for a bit.
"Mom?"
"When can I meet her?"
"Uh, that's the thing... So Jack, Erin and I meet her almost everyday and we play baseball together. We've been meeting each other since we were 10. Today we we're playing and Erin hit the ball and it hit Chase in the head and... They don't know if she is going to wake up."
She pulls me into a hug, "I'm so sorry Alec. You are un-grounded by the way."
I laugh, "thanks mom. But once she is better I'll bring her over here."
She smiles, "Good. Now you go on up to bed, long day today and tomorrow, yeah?"
"Good night, mom, love you." I say.
She kisses the side of my head, "I love you to Alec."
I walk into my room, I sit down on my bed and grab the picture on my bed stand. "Hey dad." I say. "I wish you were here. I have so much to tell you. I miss you." I hug the picture to my chest and put it back on the table. "I love you dad."
Charlie POV:
I sit at Chase's bed side, I refuse to leave her side. "Charlie, please go to your room and sleep." Mom says.
"I'm staying here. I'll go and get ready for bed and sleep here. I don't want her to wake up without me being here."
She sighs, "why does Alec look familiar?"
"You met him and his friends at Cory's parade when he was younger."
"Oh," she says.
Sophie comes into the room, with a screaming Cory on her leg. "Um, ma'am? I know you told me to take care of him but-"
"I'll take him." Mom says.
"He wants Chase actually. I'm sorry." Sophie says.
Cory clutches her leg and lets out a scream. "Tase!" He sobs.
I pry him from Sophie's leg and lie him on the bed next to Chase's uninjured leg. He curls up next to her and closes his eyes.
"Uh, ma'am?" Sophie asks. "Let him stay here... I need sleep and to calm Maxon to make sure he doesn't punch Alec again tomorrow... Good night my darlings." She kisses each of our heads.
"Um, ma'am, what do you want me to do...?"
"Go and sleep, it'll be a long few days." Mom says.
"Yes, ma'am." Sophie says curtsying. "Goodnight Miss Charlie."
I hug her, "goodnight Sophie."
I go back to my room and tell my maids that I won't be sleeping here and they are dismissed. I quickly change into my night gown and call Xander. I talked to him for an hour, sobbing into the phone. Once I calm down I head back to the hospital.
"Tarie?" Cory asks.
"Come here baby," I pick him up and crawl into bed. "Goodnight Chase, goodnight Cory."
Cory curls up against me and falls asleep. I soon follow.

"Tarie!" Cory yells, waking me up. "Tarie!"
"I'm up, I'm up." I grumble. "Buddy why are you in my room... Chase!" I yell getting up from the bed and running over to her and the doctor.
"How is she?" I ask.
"Stable, the same as yesterday miss." He says.
"Tarie?" Cory says looking over the edge of the bed and back up at me.
"I'll help you down, one second." I say. I walk over to Chase, "Morning sissy. I love you. Don't wake up while I'm gone, I need to be here. Alec, will be here soon." I kiss her forehead. "I'll be right back."
I pick up Cory and bring him over to Chase, "can you give Chase a kiss?" He bends down and kisses her cheek.
"I wan mommy." He says.
"Okay, I'll take you." I pick him up and walk to my parents room.
I walk into their room, "mom? Dad?"
I see Mom's face buried into Dad's chest, his arms wrapped around her. I can tell she is crying.
"Mommy!" Cory says squirming to get free.
She pulls away from dad and presses her lips to hers. She pulls away and gets up from the bed, "hello darlings." She says.
"Hi," I say. "Alec said that he would be here after breakfast... I don't know what time that his going to be but... Can I leave him here so I may ready?"
"Of course!" Dad says.
"Daddy!" Cory says.
I set him on the bed next to my dad, he jumps on him. Dad groans, "why do little knees always find that spot?"
I giggle, "mom, he takes after you."
Dad erupts into laughter.
"Oh hush!" Mom says laughing and walking into the bath room, her maids rushing after her.
"I'll see you at breakfast." I say to my dad who is now on the floor wrestling with Cory.
"Yup." He says picking up Cory. "Wow! Someone needs to be changed doesn't he?"
Cory giggles and squeals as dad starts to tickle him.
I laugh as I walk out of their room and head to mine. When I round the corner I see Suzy and Gram leaning against the wall and talking. I can't hear everything but I do hear, "Chase... Hard for her... Believe... Feeling."
They must hear my footsteps because they turn around, looking frightened.
"Suzy I have to get ready fast today, I need to meet Alec after breakfast."
"Yes miss."
"And Gram, do you know where Chase sneaks out of?"
"Yes, miss." He says.
"Can you meet him there and bring him to the dining room? I will take him to the hospital from there."
"Of course miss," he says.
Gram looks at me then to Suzy then back to me. "Oh, go ahead and kiss... I'll pretend I didn't see anything." I laugh.
"No, miss we weren't-" Gram presses his lips to Suzy's silencing her.
"I will see you later." He says then walks off.
I walk into my room and head to get changed. Suzy comes in behind me, blushing and looking quite flustered.
"I-I'm sorry miss, he shouldn't have-"
"It's alright... I needed to see something like that..." I say.
"Miss, are you alright? You can tell me anything, you know that, right."
I start shaking my head, "it's not fair!" I sob. "She was just trying to live her life like a normal kid!"
I'm crying so hard I fall to the ground, Suzy catches me. I sob into her chest. "It's not fair."
"Miss Chase is strong. You know that. She will be awake soon."
Xander POV: (IKR)
I walk to Charlie's room, I hear a sob, "it's not fair!"
I run into the room and see her maid comforting her, on the ground in the closet. She sees me and nods her head over.
I kneel on the ground next to her and Suzy slides Charlie over to me, "what? Xander? What are you doing here?"
"I couldn't not come when I heard you last night."
"Thank you," she says.
We sit there until she calms down, "I need to get ready, Alec is probably waiting for me." She says.
"I'll let you get ready." I kiss her cheek and walk out of her room.
Her father and mother are there waiting for me when I walk out, "it's not what it looks like... I heard her crying and I-"
Her mother hugs me, "thank you for coming. She needs you here." She pulls away, "Charlie has built up a wall because of what happened, you can help her get thorough this."
America elbows Maxon, "ow! I mean, um, thank you for coming. I'll really help her."
Charlie walks out of her room in a simple light purple dress, "let's go." She takes my hand and we walk to breakfast.
Charlie pushes the food around her plate. "Charlie, please eat something." I say.
She folds her hands in her lap, "I'm just not hungry."
I take her left hand, "I know... Let's go see her, yea?"
Just as I say that Alec walks into the room, everyone stares at him. "Uh, hi?"
"Alec!" Charlie says, then looks to me. "Now we can go."
I take her hand and we walk to the hospital in simi-awkward silence.
When we get there I see Sophie and Cory. "Phie, why don't Tase wake up?"
Sophie bends down to talk to him, "Chase got hurt and she needs to sleep for awhile. But don't worry, she'll be awake soon."
Charlie POV:
"Okay. Tarie!" He runs over to me.
"Hey buddy!" I pick him up and walk over to Chase.
Alec runs over to her and kisses her forehead, whispering something I can't hear.
I set Cory on the bed, "did he eat?" I ask Sophie.
"No, he said that he wanted Chase to walk with him to breakfast. I didn't know what to do miss..." Sophie says.
"Sophie can you bring Suzy here for me?"
"Uh, sure?" Sophie says, she curtsies then leaves.
Alec holds Chase's hand, staring at her, obvious to anything that is happening.
My cousin Astra comes into the room, holding her 2 month old baby. "Charlie!" She whisper shouts.
I stand and hug her.
"I'm sorry we didn't come sooner!" She whispers.
"It's alright. But I'm glad you are here. Xander, please get her a chair?" I say.
Xander nods and brings a chair over, "help me sit so I don't wake her?"
Xander helps her.
"Hey, Alec right?" Astra asks.
"Yea, hi," Alec says looking up from Chase. "What's her name?"
"Abri," She says smiling down at the baby.
I sit on Xander's lap. We talk about memories of Chase.
My dad and mom walk in, I see Alec tense a bit and he stops his story about their first kiss.
Mom goes over to Astra, "can I?"
Sophie comes back with Suzy, "miss you wanted to see me?"
"Yes," I stand and take them away from my family. "Suzy, can you watch Cory just for today... I don't think Sophie slept much last night."
"Miss I'm fine, I assure you." Sophie presses.
"If you won't accept my request then I force you to do it." I say.
"Very well..." Sophie says.
"Soph, you have bags under your eyes!" Suzy exclaims. "Oh and I would be happy to watch Cory, miss."
"Thank you," I say, we walk back over and I explain what I told Sophie and Suzy to do.
"Cory, do you want to play with Suzy today?"
"Yeah!" He exclaims reaching for Suzy.
She laughs and takes him in her arms.
"Wait!" Dad yells.
"Yes sir?" Suzy asks.
He reaches in his jacket pocket and hands her an inhaler.
I walk over to Alec, "relax, my parents like you." He scoffs. "Well.... My mom does..."
"Not helping..." Alec laughs.
