Tessa's POV

Today it's Hardin's birthday and I want to surprise him at work. I couldn't wish him a happy birthday because he left early in the morning for work and J had and exam today, but I took a day off from work and I'm going to take him from work and we are going to have dinner in town. It will be a nice day.

It's almost the end of the schedule for him and I just arrived at his workplace. I go to the level where he works and I'm greeted by the receptionist.

"Hello! How can I help you?"

"I'm looking for Hardin."

"Can you tell me your name? I want to see if he has a meeting with you."

"Well... Actually, I don't want to announce that I'm here. I'm his wife and I want to surprise him. So? Where is he?"

"He is in a meeting right now, but it will end soon."

"Good, thank you. Can I wait him here?"

"Sure! Have a seat! Do you want a coffee?"

"No, thank you."

I sit down on the couch and I wait for Hardin. A few minutes later, he comes out with a girl from the meeting room and my face is coming off. Why he would hug her? He is smiling? What the fuck? Tessa, you are jealous... No, I'm not. Jesus! Who is she? It looks like my plan is  gone. Wonderful!

Hardin: "Tess?" He smiles when he sees me. Haha, very nice. Fake smile, Tessa. "What are you doing here?"

Tessa: "Hi!" I stand up. "I thought you are free and that's why I came."

Hardin: "I have a few things to do. Oh, Tessa, she is Vivianne, one of my business partners. Vivianne, she's Tessa, my wife."

Vivianne: "It's nice to meet you, Tessa."

Tessa: "Yeah, cool." I give her a fake smile. "Well, then if you are busy, I will leave. I don't want to keep your mind from your work. See you at home."

Hardin: "I will finish my work soon, so don't go." He takes my hand.

Vivianne: "So, see you on Friday?"

Hardin: "Sure! Have a good night!"

Vivianne: "You too!" She smiles and she leaves. What the fuck was that?

"Can we talk?"

"Yeah, what's up?"

"In private."

"Then let's go in my office." He put his hand on my back, but I take it off. Not a chance babe, until you are not going to explain what's the business with this woman. "What happened?"

"What happened? Who was that?"

"My business partner."

"Yeah and you want me to believe you?"

"You're not jealous, are you?"

"Obviously I am!"

"You have no reason to be, baby." He comes closer to me.

"I have. When a woman who is more beautiful than me is close to you, it's not a good sign."

"You know I have eyes just for you... And no one is more beautiful than you, love. I swear!"

"You do?"

"Of course! You don't have any reason to be jealous, love. If I weren't in love with you, I would never want another wedding."

"I'm sorry for misunderstood some things."

"Come here." He opens his arms and I go to hug him.

"Happy birthday! I love you."

"Thank you baby." He kisses me. "And I love you. So, so much."

"I have a surprise for you."

"A surprise?"

"Yes. But first, you have to finish your work."

"I can skip it." He locks the door. "It's a surprise under your clothes?"

"No." I giggle. "Maybe at home."

"And what are you planning?"

"We should have dinner?"

"Sounds good. Let's go!"

He takes my hand and we leave his office. How stupid I was? Why I was thinking that he is able to cheat on me? Jesus! We go to his car and he drives to the highway. Where are we going?

"Hardin? Where are we going?"

"To have dinner. I know a nice restaurant in Queens."

"Oh... Uhm... And what's the thing with this woman, Vivianne?"

"For your peace, she's married and she has two kids and a beautiful marriage. Are you feeling better if you know this?"

"Yes." He puts his hand on my thigh. "Watch the road, mister."

"I'm just keeping my hand on your thigh, I'm watching the road, babe."

"If you say so..." I smile and I play with his hand.

"Have you thought about a date?"

"Nope."

"And when will you do this?"

"Not so soon. It's just February and we have time."

"We don't. We want a baby after this."

"Oh, c'mon! I thought we are still thinking about a baby."

"I know. Anyway, I have a date. April fifth. What about it?"

"Yeah, anytime. I don't have a preference for the date."

"That's good."

"Can you go slower, please?" I look at the road.

"Yeah. Are you ok?"

"Not exactly."

"Do you want me to stop the car?" I nod and he push the break, but nothing is happening.

"Hardin! Stop the car! Hardin!" I scream and then everything goes black.
