31. Park Dates

Hunter just called and told me he was around the corner, so I made my way out of the hotel to wait for him. I messaged him last night and told him I would meet them at the park but he said he was going to pick me up.

I really did not want him to pick me up in case I wanted to leave early, I didn't know if things would get awkward, we have spoken on the phone in the past 2 nights, both calls were well over an hour and he messages me throughout the day, I have even started to reply to his messages.

It is getting easier to talk to him, I even look forward to hearing his voice every night, I am still however guarded and I don't share how I am feeling, most of the conversations are about Rosie, she has wanted to stay with him since Thursday, so she is always coming and taking the phone away from Hunter so she can talk to me. That little girl just melts my heart.

I have arranged for John to pick me up just after lunch, I haven't told Hunter that I will be leaving early yet, I found out this morning that I was able to collect the keys for the office building at 2pm, everything has been finalised, so as of Monday I need to find a construction company. So many times, while talking to Hunter, I want to ask him his thoughts about working for me but I just keep quiet in the end, he really knows nothing about me or what I do.

I got to the front doors and Richard was standing at the doors waiting to open them "Good Morning Miss Hastings" he said politely as I walked through the doors "Good Morning Richard, wow it is actually really warm out today, summer is going to be a hot one this year".

I looked down the street to see if I could see Hunter and I now know why he wanted to pick me up, he was driving the car that I had bought him for his birthday. Even though I'm not a big car fan, I do have to admit that it does look good. He pulled up right Infront of me and being the gentleman, he got out of the car and walked around to open my door.

"Hi" he said as he came closer and kissed me on the cheek "You look beautiful" he whispered in my ear as he put his arm around my back to pull me closer to him. I have to admit, I may have had a few outfit changes until I found the perfect summer dress for the park, hopefully one that Hunter would appreciate. I ended up going with a little yellow flowing wrap around dress that had little white flowers over it and short sleeves as well, it was not overly short but higher than knee length.

I guess the choice was worth it when I saw Hunter taking his time to look me up and down, he quickly looked away bashfully when I rose one eyebrow at him with a smirk and if I thought the bashful look was cute on him, it was nothing compared to the blush that appeared when he opened the car door and guided me to sit, as I sat my dress creeped up my leg revealing more of my thigh. He didn't remove his eyes until I cleared my throat, he quickly composed himself and closed the door.

I let out a little chuckle as he walked around the front of the car "Ellie" I heard excitedly yelled from the back and turned my head around "Good Morning Princess, how are you today".

"Good, can we get hot dogs and ice cream again at the park and go on all the swings, I bought a Frisbee and a ball and a skipping rope and a, and a ....." she got stuck on a word for a minute just as Hunter sat back in the car, still looking a bit flustered "daddy what was the thing called that goes in the sky?" she asked him. "A Kite" he replied. "and a kite and I got you a kite too, I got one with a unicorn and daddy said we should get you a butterfly kite because you are beautiful like a butterfly" she continued on when she had found the word she wanted.

I looked straight at Hunter it was now my turn to support crimson red checks, Hunter however just had a giggle and shook his head, not believing his daughter had just repeated what he had said, he grabbed my hand and bought it to his mouth and kissed the back of my hand while looking at me "It's true" he told me before entwining out fingers and putting them on his lap and pulling out into the traffic.
